Does anyone have a preference in regards to oil brands or weather it is dino, synthetic or semi-syn in a Dodge Hemi 5.7 with the MDS system (it is in an 06' magnum AWD)? What is the preference and why so? It calls for 5W20. Currently has dino in it and I've been contemplating using synthetic.

I have a 2006 JGC with the 5.7 Hemi and have been using Amsoil 0w20.....at first I used the leftover 5-30W I had and experienced no problems. I changed back to 0w20 the next time I changed it out. My opinion is use synthetic if you wish to extend your OCI or stick with Dino for normal oil changes.....your preference is what it really comes down to!

I ran Royal Purple 5w30 in my 04 HEMI Ram( Non MDS ). It really quieted down the infamous HEMI TICK. Dodge started calling for 5W-20 in the HEMI in 05. I tried 5W-20 RP in my HEMI and it didn't seem to make any noticeable difference or improvment over the 5w30 in noise or MPG.

Obviously as your manual calls for 5W-20 I would stay with that. Give the RP a try. While I was on the HEMI forum RP was the most popular oil for them and it really performed well.
