i have a gearbox that is a little notchy 1st-2nd shifts and was just wondering if there is an additive out there that is used and reccomended by the members?, or should i just swap out to a synthetic. i want to avoid a possible all out 1-2 grind.

I am using redline in my Corvette..a little notchy in the 2-3 shift...heleped a bit..
But my owners manual does recommend using the rear end friction modifier if having a notchy gear box

Molakule's Specialty Formulations MTL-R helps with that notchy shift on Mazda 3's. Unfortunately, he has recently moved and trying to get his operations going again (last I heard).

In the absence of MTL-R, I would use Amsoil's product.

Differential friction modifiers make things slick.
Manual trans friction modifiers make the synchros grab.
Too slick will make synchro engagement slow and make shifting worse.
