I just spent a couple of hours driving to a half-dozen AutoZone stores around my town, and cleaning up on $2/qt synthetic oils (M-1, Castrol Edge, P-P, and MaxLife Full Syn) in various useful viscosities. The stash is still in the back seat of my car, uncounted, but I think I spent less than $100 for the 40 or so quarts. My wife may want to know if there's help available for me, or if there's a support group for affected relatives . . .

Just don't drink the oil.

Was the M1, the High Mileage and 10w30 with the bad [censored] HTHS of 3.5? Is any of that other stuff any better than the PPPP? lol, you don't need help, just more research and more narrowing down.

Lol..i also pick up detailing stuff on liquidation..so my problems run deeper than just oil..you are lucky you can hit many stores in that amount of time..i need to cross customs just to get to one store..but its so exciting when you find oil for cheap

puts me in a better mood..we should start a garage chain..BITOG auto repair..lol..im sure we can provide tons of oil changes with our stashes!

You just need a little willpower. I got up to like 10 gallons and cut the smack, cold turkey. I did go into Oreilly's yesterday to pick up washer fluid and caught myself trolling the oil section but I made it out.

I can't understand the long OCI's with a huge oil stash. Seems more logical to me that if you have a large oil collection, you'd want to keep pumping clean oil through the engine.

That's what I'll be doing with the Jeep. Nice short oil changes, you'd be proud Merk

But the Camry is the beater commuter, I go about 7,500 miles with synthetic. I could stretch it out more, especially since it burns a quart every 2,000 miles or so.

This site cured me. I now know how much money I was wasting over maintaining, and how long oil lasts. I squeeze every last mile out of my oil and other fluids and filters!

Ride with it.

The other Christmas I gave my wife a couple of oil change kits, two nicely wrapped oil filters & two 5 qt. containers of oil with a red bows on top (to be installed by me)... along with other gifts.

Fortunately, she's a practical gal, she put up with it and it keeps her car running.

If you had a lot of money would you build bonfires with it?

I gave everyone a free oil change and tire rotation for Christmas, so the Auto Zone clearance helped me stock up on Euro 0W-40. There's no shame in stashing oil.
