Is Suzuki ATF 3317 just rebranded JWS3309?

This mysterious Suzuki OEM fluid has no specifications listed anywhere and the manual says "Use Suzuki ATF 3317 or Mobil ATF 3309".

Just trying to find some more details about the ATF 3317 ATF.

I use Mobil 3309 in my Suzuki Grand Vitara. I believe Toyota lV is the same thing only cheaper.

Not sure what the Suzuki fluid costs, but Summit has the Mobil ATF 3309 for $6.99/qt.

there's almost no info on jws3317. if i were to make a guess it's probably just a full-synthetic version of 3309

We had an older vitara. It seemed to really wear the fluid based on shift quality. At around 100k I got a hold of it and replaced with Amsoil - and the difference was remarkable.

Based on the 3309 and Type IV suggestions, amsoil or Maxlife synthetic ATF would both be dead ringers.
