Is PYB the same formula in Canada and the US?

I'm considering running Pennzoil conventional 5w20 in my wife's Honda at the next oil change and was checking out both the US and Canadian websites and noticed that on the Canadian one it says that Pennzoil conventional cleans out 15% of sludge on the first interval, while the US one says 40%. So I'm wondering if the Canadian site is simply not up to date or is the formula actually different up here? Has anyone in Canada seen the new Pennzoil conventional with the label stating that it cleans 40% of the sludge?

Maybe the rejected batches get sent to Canada, or I think 15% is the metric equivalent of the US 40%.

It's because the other 25% cleaning power goes to the Government in the form of a hidden tax like everything else!

The 40% cleaning one is the GF5 formula. You would have to see what is in your local stores.

Seriously though...

The websites show different bottles. The one from the U.S. says "Contains Active Cleaning Ingredients"

The one in Canada doesn't...

The US Website also lists specifications, Canada says "Meets or Exceeds"

The one in the U.S. also says that it's guaranteed for 15 Years or 500,000 miles and Canada does not.

Has to be GF-5 verus GF-4 IMO.

We probably have lots of older stock up here to get rid of first and so the website hasn't changed yet? Maybe sales are coming to move this older product out?

I'll definitely check out Walmart either tomorrow or Saturday, but I was hoping someone on here in Canada might have already spotted the newer Pennzoil conventional up here. So I'm hoping it's just that the Canadian website is not up to date (which is pretty sad when you think about it)

I'm going out with Dad in a bit to return something to "Orange Box" (Home Depot) and I will check the Walmart for you because they are in the same area.

It would be really sad if you guys were getting lower spec oil on top of paying more for it. I always assumed that Canadian vehicles require and follow the oil requirements as US and the oils were the same. Now Mexico I can see have lower spec oil.

They've had it on sale at Walmart here for under $11 for about the last 3 weeks at least. And PP for $19. The PP looks the same as the bottle on the US website and quotes the same numbers for engine cleaning. The Pennzoil conventional was all showing like 10% on the label, but I never looked at it very closely where PP has been so cheap.

XOM names their oil differently here. Because of that, and the uncertainty as to what I'm actually getting inside the bottle, I won't touch it - even if it wasn't so badly over-priced here. They're the only ones I've known to do this, but I never considered Pennzoil conventional so if there's any difference on the bottle here I would have easily missed it. The rest of them are the same here as they are there - just more expensive, and in some cases, harder to find.

That was probably for 5w30 and 10w30 only though I bet. That's one thing that bugs me, whenever there are really good sales on conventional oil at Walmart (or Canadian Tire) they never have the 5w20 included in that sale. I could maybe understand that reasoning back in 2001 when 5w20 first came out as the FF in many Fords and Hondas, but here it's almost ten years later now and we still don't get good sales on 5w20 up here!

Most likely that "Home Base" gets it first before other countries... We are also 1/10th the population of the US so it makes sense from that perspective too.

We just haven't made it through the older stuff yet...

Yes, it is the exact same product. The reason you don't have the warranty listed is because that is a USA thing.

I know the PP was all 5W30 and 10W30. I didn't notice on the Pennzoil conventional where I buy 5W30 and skipped over the Pennzoil conventional for the PP. Walmart is not quite as bad as CT. CT has an everyday low price for Syntec - catch is its for the 10W30 and you pay extra for 5W30 and more still for 5W20.

I've almost written CT off completely for oil. The only thing I'll give them is that they sometimes put High Mileage oils on sale, and then they're cheaper than Walmart, as the Walmarts here never have High Mileage oil on sale. I still like CT for other things though - tools, tires, Regane.

The one thing CT has over Walmart is it's sales on 4.4L jugs of Castrol GTX 5w20. For instance this past week (sale ends tonight or tomorrow) they've had those 4.4L jugs for $13.57 and that includes a free Fram oil filter too. And it is also rare that it includes 5w20 as well. But with the other viscosities, Walmart has them beat, they had special 4L jugs of 5w30 and 10w30 GTX recently for only $10. I miss the really really good sales though, I've still got an old 4L jug of 10w30 GTX in my basement that I picked up at Walmart about 6 or 7 years ago for just $5! Stevie would've needed an extra garage space if he had seen that sale!
