Is PPG paint good

Good to hear. If you are using a long established body n paint shop, the fact they have been there a while and have a good amount of customers , says you are probably in good professional hands with people who know what they are doing regardless the name of the products used. They simply could not be successful using less than superior products. Most of those guys take great pride in their work.
Toured the shop. Lots of Porsches and bimmers.

Got the car back yesterday. The shop did a great job.

PPG, the choice of Ferrari, Boeing and Airbus. Almost all the automakers use PPG paint in some form. The Japanese OEs have PPG make their Nippon Paint/Kansai Paint formulations for them in the US. Mercedes had PPG come up with CeramiClear. BASF is the other OE-level supplier. Mercedes, VW and Tesla uses BASF.

But paint is only as good as as the painter in the booth and mix room. A parallel - I know someone who was a union painter(now a super) who can make Behr Premium Plus go on just as nice as Benjamin Moore that costs 2-3x as much. But give me that Behr and I’ll complain until I go to my local Ben Moore dealer. Oddly enough, there was rumor Berkshire Hathaway was interested in Axalta, the former automotive and industrial paint division of DuPont(Cromax/Imron/the legacy DuPont brands, Spies Hecker and Standox) - if that happened, it would have been folded under the Benjamin Moore business.
