I'm taking my Montero to the body shop tomorrow to get the roof painted. After 11 years, the paint on the roof has been sunbaked so fresh paint will do it good.

The body shop I deal with used to exclusively deal with Standox, Sikkens and Glasurit as their paint suppliers. Unfortunately, the guy had some problems with the local Standox and Sikkens distributors matching colors, and after some customer complaints, he stopped dealing with them all together. I used to opt for Sikkens, but I'm now having to change that option because of the color matching issues.

As it stands, he's dealing with Glasurit, Mipa, DuPont and and Nexa Autocolor of PPG Industries. He's telling me it's really the prep work and the clearcoat that matters most as opposed to the paint supplier, but nevertheless asked me which brand I'd like to go for. I would love to opt for Glasurit, but I also have to replace the TPS sensor on this truck ($150) and have a few other financial commitments to make, so I really can't shell out the extra 50%. Mipa is priced the same, so that leaves me with Nexa and DuPont.

Just wondering if anybody here happens to have used either brand, and what their suggestions would be. Thanks!

Glasurit is excellent paint I used it a lot years ago and never had any problems with it.
I was told by a real good painter years ago the black cars are better if a single stage paint is used.I don't know if this is still true with modern paint formulations at that time lacquer was the widely used but its a question worth asking if you have one in a high heat area.
