Is my daughter getting "took" - door ding repair

There’s really no place for prescriptivism in linguistics.

More importantly: to a native speaker of American English, “my daughter was taken” and “my daughter was took” do NOT mean the same thing.
I've also heard some say "tooken" and they were supposedly speaking American English.🙂

Good job on raising your daughter right. Whatever I say next, remember that.

F the BMW owner for even bringing you that estimate. That’s obscene. Not much offends me, but this does. Ftg.

Agreed with what’s been said before about the estimate MAYBE being worthwhile if the rest of the car is showroom/competition level of pristine nature. (Narrator: it’s not).

Do the right thing. This d*ouche bmw driver is not.

If the paint isn't blemished, ask if they're willing to go PDR. It'll seem free compared to body shop doing the work. I've had a couple on my car that people stuck around for. Left me notes. Because they were honest, I went PDR and didn't destroy them over it. Because a body shop will do it standard which is probably what you have in your hands (I didn't read it, I just know my last one was $150 PDR that a body shop I sent pics to quoted thousands). Labor rates are killer with body shops. They can do what they want, it's their car, and if the paint is scratched you're probably kind of out of luck. But if it's your daughter's car paint have them PDR and offer them a full interior and exterior detailing from a detailer that says they can fix the paint transfer. You'll both win and probably still cheaper than a body shop.

That's what I'd offer if it's not scratched needing paint. Worst they can say is no.

But price it out before offering in case the body shop is cheaper LOL

If you're running through your insurance, they may not accept an offer like this and you're probably stuck doing whatever insurance approves. But if you're paying out of pocket, that's different.
