I bought my 1997 Camry 2.2L automatic 4 months ago at 185k miles. Have changed the plugs and wires, PCV valve, valve cover gasket (no sludge), and am running Pennzoil Ultra 5w30 and a Wix filter. The car has sounded like this since I bought it. It runs good, no smoking or issues. It has kind of a noisy motor and am not sure what to really call the noise whether it's a knock, a rod, a valve, I'm not sure. I've walked by other Camrys and could hear they have kind of the same noise. What do you guys think? Here's a link to the video:

Thanks

I didn't hear any knocking or anything but maybe there was a kind of 'whirring' noise, like from a belt.

If it is something serious it will get worse before it gets better.

Ok glad to hear it doesn't hear awful. I forgot to say I changed the timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley, and water pump when I bought it.

Better than my 1999 Camry! Mine has some noise (valves?) for the first minute or so of the cold start.

There's something going on with one of your belt driven accessories. Maybe a belt, tensioner, idler pulley, but something doesn't sound quite right. Idler pulleys are common to fail at over 100K miles.

Maybe some injector noise/ticking but, that's about all I can hear for an engine with close to 200K miles

In addition! Not that I am Pro/Con to this but, maybe some MMO or TC-W3 in the fuel at fillups(proper dossage) will quiet down what you are hearing...IDK!
