Is "moonroof" an outdated term?

No, because that's what they are called.

Just like "power window" and "power door locks".

I'm sorry, are you referring to a painted or an unpainted metal panel?
I can't recall seeing or hearing of an unpainted metal "sunroof" before.

The guys here said " metal" and to me that means unpainted metal.

Ive seen tons of painted sliding roofs.

Wouldn't that rust?

Depends if its aluminum or stainless it wouldnt, but the guys weren't describing that they were describing a painted metal roof.

The misunderstanding in material is entirely mine. They guys kept saying "metal".

as a manufacturer products using metal cases I dont describe material as having more or less processes applied on it than it has is.

I would call it painted metal, or painted carbon, powder coated or bare aluminum Etcetera...

Whatever they're called, I can't stand them. My Grand Cherokee has a panoramic sun/moon-roof. Haven't opened it in a couple years. Don't plan on doing it in the future either.

I use it constantly here in cali, mostly as ventilation and tilted up vs opened.

With an electric rear window and tilt roof I can go most of the day without the hvac system running which I vastly prefer.
I can fine tune cabin airflow really well this way.

I only open the roof at night on 2 lane country blacktop or when off-roading - its too loud otherwise.

I love the panorama sunroof. You don't have any paint on the roof so you don't have to wax the roof. You're supposed to lube up the rails every couple of years though. I open it once in a while to cool the car down fast in the summer.

T-tops are AWESOME!!(y)
ehhhh, Im not so sure. I had them on my trans am.

They eventually had fitment issues, and where do you put them when you take them off?

You have to stop and get out to open and close up vs press a button.

The ones on my 300ZX still fit perfectly(y). Same with my 86 300ZX. Never a single prob.

Like a place to store them? They have a leather bag that you put them in and a place in the rear hatch to hold them with these tie downs.

Got it -

So in and out of the little bag in into the hatch area where they are tied down.

How much space left when they are in there?

I had to fight with Munich to get my Club Sport built without a hole in the roof- even though the DOI sheet listed it as an option. I'm currently looking for an M2 Comp with three pedals and a slick top- they are few and far between...

Not very much. The rear hatch area in a Z32 is tiny!!

I love datsun Z cars. We had them in our family growing up.

Here's my mom in 1979
