My Kubota M5040 calls for either Kubota UDT or SUPER UDT2 fluid. My tractor has almost 700 hours, so I guess I really need to change the hydraulic fluid and filters. Is Cam2 Premium Universal Hydraulic Fluid a suitable replacement for UDT? It's a bit cheaper, and I need 15 gallons.

Tractor is a gear shift, hydraulic shuttle if that matters.

If I owned a 20-30k tractor, I would want the assurance of what $300 in Kubota UDT would give me vs whatever swill is in a $40 bucket.

Nice tractor btw.

I would use it with out hesitation. I have a Kioti 4 seris size tractor and before that a Deere 3 series tractor and I used Chevron and Mobil 242/Delvac and the top traveler oil in it for the recommended intervals and couldn't tell the difference with brake chatter etc. and never saw sparklies in any of the drained oils. Cam 2 is a quality brand.

OP you mentioned Universal Hydraulic Fluid and wpod linked Universal Tractor Hydraulic Fluid. They are totally different animals. Primarily because tractor fluid has extreme pressure additives for gear wear, where as typical hydraulic fluid does not.

For what its worth the Cam2 Promax Premium meets UDT and Super UDT specs.

I went with Kubota. However, I know people running Cam2 in some very expensive JD tractors without issue
