I have a GC 190 6.0 Honda Power Pressure Washer that i bought not to long ago. I had put 10w30 Havoline PCMO. I did the recomended drain that the manuel recommends whichs is change the oil after 5 hours of use. When i changed it( engine cold) i notice that the oil had this brown metallic look. It had little fine metal particles floating in the oil. So, then i proceeded to give it a quick flush with the craftman's 30w oil that came along with the power washer. I did some cleaning for about 15 minutes and then flush it with the enging hot this time. Man, it came out the same as the Havoline oil and maybe a little darker. Is this normal? I know that it goes through the breakin period but should the oil be that color, with small particle of metal floating around?

I then put some Mobil 1EP 10w30 to use from there on.

yes chico, perfectly. the first few changes will have some "glitter" from the parts honing in. it'll clear up. the hondas are awesome motors. you did good changing the oil after the first 5 hrs or so. the first few are gonna be weird colored, with the metallic particles. good luck.

its normal on a non oil filtered engine to see wear in metals like that. probablly clear up in a couple more oil changes.

Yep, quite normal ... especially in a new engine that does not have a spin-on filter.

Call me eccentric, but I change the oil in new OPE (outdoor power equipment) every 2-3 hours until I see that this "silver soup" starts to clear up and I have a hard time seeing any particulates in the drained oil with my naked eyes.

These bits of metal act as an abrasive slurry that does your engine no good.

Since changing the oil in these engines is easy and cheap (most have less than 1 quart capacity) it makes sense to pamper them in their first 30 hours or so of life.

Chico, wait until you change the pump's oil in that thing. You'll see the real meaning of the term "silver soup."
