Just shooting up in price these last few weeks? I normally run into AA to pick up a few AC delco cartridge filters, as they were normally about 4.60 each. I go into today, and now they are 8 bucks. As a matter of fact, all my filters there have gone up...most are around 10 bucks now. Called around to a few other places, and their prices have jumped up too...has anyone noticed this as well?

Also was warned at AA that there is going to be some sharp increases in oil at the end of the month as well...

Diesel. Cost of living.
But everything going UP UP UP UP...
Except your paycheck.

Bacon $8/lb here.

It's called inflation.

I remember when my wife and I could eat out for $10 at a cheap restaurant.
Now we are lucky if we can get out of anywhere for $20.

Still can get filters pretty darn cheap at AAP, their on line codes will work in conjunction with sales.

When we print so much money with nothing to back it up...things can only go up including taxes.

Eventually we'll have to live within our means but it won't be fun....

There is no inflation. Uncle Ben says so.

The guy asked a legitimate question about oil filter prices and you are trying to turn this into a political debate, which will undoubtedly get the whole thread locked. Thanks.

There could be some legitimate causes for filter prices to go up. Surge in demand due to new vehicle sales. Shortage of filtration media. Large filter manufacturer had a factory close, and so on. But nope, it's always something political.

Infaltion, although is doesn't officially exisit. The cost of everything used to produce and ship them is through the roof.

I've noticed subtle increases in all consumer goods. I have a theory...but don't want to break any rules on the forum.

The guy asked a legitimate question and pbm gave a legitimate, and true answer. Have you noticed that the price of EVERYTHING is going up? If you don't think inflation is the most likely cause, then you have some homework to do.

If you're buying some items from Europe with US dollars (e.g. WIX filters made in Poland), you'll pay more.

A few days ago I cancelled plans to tour the UK next fall. Why? $5,000 US buys only about $3,200 in UK goods & services. I'll spend my $5,000 here for a win-win vacation.

I think that the US dollar should be backed by oil filters. It makes as much sense as anything else. We just need to decide which oil filter to use as backing. I propose using either the Bosch Distance plus, M1EP (or K&N) or maybe the Amsoil. For the purposes of backing the $, we should go with something good.

But it's so ugly. Would you really want a yellow oil filter backing the dollar?
