Is Dexron2/3 interchangeable with mb236.14?

Hello, my car is mercedes and i have 4 liters Fuchs TITAN ATF 4134, from my last automatic oil change, which meets only mb 236.14.

Can i use it for transfer case and power steering if manual says:
transfer case fluid- atf dexron 2 or atf dexron 3
power steering fluid- atf dexron 2 or atf dexron 3

or better to buy mobil atf 320 (dexron 3 G)?

IPS systems are rarely ever picky. It could work in the transfer case but I'm not sure, You could try and see if the engagement is good. I'd at least keep it for the PS system.

I know that with older .10 and .12 they did allow dex 3 to be used in the transmission as a substitute but .14 is newer. What does the owners manual say about the transfer case and transmission.

Mercedes says to use fluid with 236.14 specifications. Maxlife says their fluid is recommended for that spec, as well as meeting the spec for Dexron VI. Does that mean that theoretically, Dexron VI would be ok in this car?

Hey people. Have a 2004 E55 with the 722.6 5 speed tranny. I'm looking at changing the fluid soon. Car has 185k km, is street driven, sometimes hard and I'd like to take it to the track in the future. In short, I want to look after and enjoy this magnificent cars performance.

I've looked up the specs and it looks like it needs an ATF with 236.14 spec.

Does anyone here know the viscosity specs of the OEM MB 236.14 fluid? (have looked but cannot find) Reason I ask is that I'm looking at the Penrite ATF BMV that claims to meet the 236.14 spec and I'd like to compare the two.

Can anyone suggest a correct synthetic ATF for '90s era Mercedes-Benz 722.3 4spd automatic in a 500E?

It sounds like the current widely used standard isn't technically ideal for this older auto 'box that isn't computer controlled.

I found this good info posted elsewhere but would like to know what the BITOG members suggest.

Watch out for that "should be used" and "can be used" thing. For the newer 722.6 transmissions, MB says the latest fluid (236.14) "should be used" for older applications (i.e., early production 722.6 in the late 1990's) that originally called for for 236.12 or...

For 1990-2000 cars, are they equally good? I believe forum said one was semi-synthetic, but other met higher spec. I have 4 or 5 speed.

What makes this fluid special? Has anyone used Pentosin in these, or even Maxlife?

I find it interesting that Valvoline says Maxlife will work in for Lifeguard 8 and other lifeguard fluids.

How can this be?

Hey all,

Getting ready to do a drain and fill on our ML 350, last time I used Shell ATF 134. Any thoughts on that? Would there be a better fluid choice? I was considering using Valvoline Maxlife ATF as it has been praised so well.

The transfer case in my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee requires the following spec'ed fluid:

ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12, such as Shell ATF 3403/M-115, Fuchs/Shell ATF 3353

Does anyone have any recommendations of an easy to find fluid that meets those specs? I'm in Canada by the way.

Depending on the year of your MB the 134 fluid is what is called for in the transfer case. Even the vehicles requiring the newer FE trans fluid still use the 134 in their transfer cases.
