Is bedding in new brakes required?

Always have to bed brakes in to some degree. It is not the pad rubbing on the rotor that stops the car, it is the pad rubbing against the pad material embedded in the rotor that stops the car. Takes many stops before there is pad transfer to the rotor.

Honda says to do about 10 60-10 km/hr fairly hard stops.

Taking a car out now to bed in the new brakes I just put on.

I just did new discs and pads - 15 minutes in a 30 mph neighborhood is all I do ... I want to also build confidence before going 75 mph ...

I suspect the shop or mechanic would do the bedding for you when he/she test drives the car after the brake service. I seriously doubt you'll have a mechanic give you a written instruction list of how to do them yourself.
