Case in point: I stream everything. But if I like a band or whatever enough, I'll buy it, but I'm downloading it to my phone.

I would rather buy individual songs than stream music on a device. I would rather choose than have an algorithm choose my music for me.

Not to mention sometimes I'm out where there is no wireless data coverage...

Because nobody buys digital music or movies any more. They pay to stream. Vinyl just hit a 30 year high, and piracy is on the rise again.

You're behind the times. On all the major steaming services you can select the exact song you want to listen to, curate your own playlists, and download music for offline use.

I currently have 12.7gb downloaded to my phone, to minimize my data usage.

I'd rather d/l at home on my WiFi and have it there.

It's not like my music is going away. I'll just have to buy it from other sources. I suspect Amazon will still sell me one or more MP3 files.

Others can go on with their newfangled streaming and their witchcraft auto-shifting cars. I'll keep getting my books on tape and LPs.

Now get off my digital lawn you whippersnappers.

In all seriousness, I'm not sure I hear enough new music to warrant another $10/month service. I might buy one song a month at $1.99 or whatever they are. Paying $5 or $10 a month to stream music, much of which I already have makes no sense.

If I didn't have 75GB of music already in my library, it might make sense to subscribe.

But it's not like music that is aimed at me and my tastes is coming out in sufficient volume to warrant a streaming service.

See my post earlier in this thread.

At least at this point, the iTunes store is still present and working the exact same way it has for the past ~15 years. As of now, it is even still called "The iTunes Store."

This is a rebranding and "slimming" down iTunes to what it originally was-a music ONLY management application without movies or other types of media. Those now have their own separate programs.

I installed macOS Catalina(10.15), which is where the change is being rolled out, a few hours after it was announced at WWDC on Monday the 3rd. If-like me-you only ever used the Music functions of iTunes at this point you WILL NOT see any change other than the UI in "Music" being more streamlined vs. the latest version of iTunes.
