Is anyone still using wax?

I've been using Turtle wax as they make a colored wax and my truck is white. It helps to camouflage the chips and peeling clearcoat. Looks OK for a work truck.

Before I sold it, I used to wax my garage queen Silverado twice a year with this all natural wax made of banana and coconut oils. It smelled delicious, like a pina colada. And was supposed to be good for the paint. It did keep it well preserved for 12 years. But it was extremely difficult to apply. And to get a good shine, it had to be re-buffed with a detailer spray. I can't remember the name of the product, but it was light blue in color.

Anyway, the F250 is not going to get that. This fall I'll do an iron removal, clay, and white wax again after I finish the annual undercoating.

I stopped using any kind of wipe on buff off products many years ago because I hate the white chalky residue that gets left in all of the nooks and crannies. Plus the action of buffing something off will introduce micro marring of the finish over time. For me the wipe on walk away type of products have changed the detailing game. Much faster to use and better protection from the elements. You do lose a bit of the shine compared with a true carnuba wax though

since i bought the car i use liquid carnauba wax , i have post it here, from autoglym,

RAPID AQUA WAX

it keeps the car shiny and the rain away.
I use Zymol on tar. Put a dab on the tar and wait 10 to 15 minutes. The tar comes off very easily.
that must be some very expensive tar after the cleaning..zymol would be my wax if i used a carnauba buff off wax.great products.

Im still a diehard fan of carnauba wax. Especially the ones that have smell good added to them. Makes waxing more enjoyable.

zymol? Wasn't that the blue Amish buggy wax that was hard to get off? Seems I remember that name from years ago.

Yup. Wash and Wax, Wax as you Dry, Lucas Spray Mist, Meguiars Quik Wax. All have worked just fine for at most, $9/bottle (Lucas).

It seems that the ceramics have taken over the market. They are easier to use, last as long if not longer, and look as good wax, or very close.
I might be one of the last holdouts using wax. Ok, I have to admit that some of my cars have only seen ceramics their entire lives but some cars
are only getting waxed because it's a fun thing to do.View attachment 292528

That's quite a stash of #16.

When it comes to detailing, I'm more and more in the Roger Murtagh camp. (Lethal Weapon "I'm too old for this…")
