Is Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 API GL-5?

Hi All,

Is Amsoil Severe Gear 75w-110 an API GL-5 oil? On their webpage (https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/gear-lube/severe-gear-75w-110/), it just says recommended for use, which I'm not sure that I can trust. My 2018 F150 has hypoid gears, so I need an API Gl-5 oil.

Yep,it's a GL5. It's what I always used in my 300ZX's rear differential.

Recommended for use in differentials, manual transmissions and other gear applications requiring any of the following specifications: API GL-5, MT-1, MIL-PRF-2105E, Dana SHAES 234 (Formerly Eaton PS-037), Mack GO-J, or other GL-5 based specifications from vehicle manufacturers, including Ford*, GM* and Chrysler*. Can also be used in axles where an API GL-4 lubricant is recommended.


Since it contains an EP additive package for GL-5 protection, yes, I would say it's rated at GL-5.
