If there's no cap on the radiator, then it's on the reservoir\expansion tankThen you haven't seen some of the car's I've looked at. Besides no radiator cap, no oil fill cap, no gas cap, sometimes even no dipsticks.
Perhaps it wasn't obvious, but this was about MISSING a cap that should be installed. If there's no cap on the radiator, then it's on the reservoir\expansion tank
Not sure where you are. I have property on Tupper Lake for about 12 years. Usually a week or 2 of -30F in winter. Similar to White Mrs NH where I love!!Try the Northern Adirondacks, they've plenty of cold ass days up there. What's the reason just not to use 70/30? There's no harm, and the extra antifreeze may help boil over protection, and help the water pump.
I was out in Utica for a semester, they cancelled classes many times that semester due to cold weather. I recall there being 3-6 days with that the temperature went down below -20*, once down to -30*. Coldest I've ever been into in NY, haven't seen those temps since. Not sure where you are. Do you see much below -30F? If so to what degree?
I'm located in Clifton Park.. But I've been to tupper about 30 times, and know a few up there. I know how crazy cold it can get.Not sure where you are. I have property on Tupper Lake for about 12 years. Usually a week or 2 of -30F in winter. Similar to White Mrs NH where I love!!

Tupper Lake huh? That's my go to camping spot, out on Horseshoe lake... I consider that my favorite place to camp.
That’s conceptually true but I’d like to suggest it’s not worth worrying about.the viscosity of the coolant goes up significantly below freezing with increased concentration. That could introduce more stress on the waterpump and whatever drives the pump. But doesn't matter if you won't see very low temperatures.
Holy fing information batman! I love when people cite they're sources
