iPhone XR to android phone

Trying to get someone else to use those apps though is pretty much futile in my experience. Maybe that’s changed since 2020, but prior to that I gave up and went back to iPhone.

I'm not buying a different phone because they can't be bothered to download an app. iMessage and Facetime aren't even that great, they just come preinstalled on the device.

It's not a selling point to new customers. It's just something that is convenient to Apple users. Most people I know use iPhones which I only found by having an iPhone. iMessage is great and all but that's not what sold me on them. They just feel more polished to me so I use iPhones. I've had plenty of Android phones and they've been great too, there's just no way I'm paying $1200 for an equivalent Samsung when iOS exists.

iOS is a sad excuse for an OS and you can buy a top of the line Samsung or Pixel for $599. You have to have a hole in your head to pay $1200 for a phone.

A Pixel 8 pro is the same price as an iPhone 15 Pro, and the top of the line Samsungs are the same price as their equivalent iPhones except the S23FE, but that’s using a now 2 year old chipset.

At the end of the day it’s different strokes for different folks. But I’m not going to sit here and crap on android just because I don’t like it.

You can't get a top of the line Samsung for $599 unless it's discounted. Pixel is the best example of Android and it has a lackluster processor. OnePlus is the best Android example if you want a good processsor. Samsung makes the most expensive phones in the market and aren't even close to the best.

iOS a sad excuse. 🤣 That's a good laugh.

Seriously show me the most recent example of a Samsung device that is $599 and top of the line so I have evidence to explain why you're wrong. 3 months after release and you might have a point. It shows how crap their marketing actually is. People that complain that Apple is expensive is because they stick to their prices. Samsung stands on a wobby foundation. I've bought many Samsung devices. My oldest and my wife still prefer them. I don't hold that against them, but I spent well more than $599 to have a phone equivelant to my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It was $1200 with 256 GB. What did my wife's Samsung 256GB S22 Plus cost at the same time? Within $100. The Ultra was more than the iPhone. The Ultra is the one in comparison to the iPhone Pro Max. If you honestly think the $599 Samsung is comparable I'd like to sample your supply.

Neither am I, but saying Samsung at a much higher price is a better device is a laughable thought.

I have an Android and an Apple. Apple is the work phone. The only reason I haven't traded it in on a new Android (I have the choice) is because I facetime a lot with the lady. I absolutely hate the platform and it's locked-down "only appleverse approved appleoidapps" BS

I do sail the 7 seas matey, though I pay almost 110$ a month on streaming services sometimes theres a show I can't watch on them and Android doesn't give a hoot if I "borrow" it on Stremio

That's just one of the many great things of Android, you have choices. If you don't like Samsung, you have many other excellent manufacturers to choose from. Apple just locks you into their overpriced ecosystem.

I know some love Android but not having Apple iMessage for me would be a deal breaker. I'm often in locations without great cell service but have wifi so I can send iMessages. I often respond to imessages from my Macbook, and with my newer macbook Air with the M1 chip I can respond to both text messages and iMessages from my laptop, which is way more convenient. Google + Android have always seemed just a bit clunky to me.

I have a Moto G Power. I love the 3 day battery and the 16mp camera is great on mine. Does video really well and works in many places that my wife;s iPhone 14 will not. Hers always gives her trouble. She had a G power too but thought our daughters phone had better pictures so she switched. I had Android when I was employed so I have just continued with it. Never had an iPhone and probably never will.

The largest argument I have seen for Android is price, more flexible and if you enjoy noodling with phones.

Apple iOS is more expensive however quality is top tier and unclear if Android has close equivalent or better. iOS is inflexible however you get a very expected consistent experience which major reason I stick to it.

The price does not personally bother me as we find ourselves in my family using older iPhones(XR , 7 plus) bought new that Android ecosystem does not update support old hardware.

I tried being loyal to one company and its detrimental to my workflow. Both have unique features that come down to personal requirement.

That being said, if apple is adopting RCS, then imessage will be able to include non ios devices.

I don't understand the locking in thing. At one time I had Linux computer, an Android phone, and an iPad. About the only benefit now that I have of using a MacBook and an iPhone is that my calls and texts display on both. I can't otherwise think of a single thing I really do different with either type of device that either locks me in or frees me having the other. Getting a MacBook was mostly because I liked the form factor and I wanted a new computer. I happened to have an iPhone at the time anyway so that definitely drew more attention to Apple for me, but I would have had a useable computer either way.

Maybe my usage is completely different than others, I just have never understood this lock in. Initial setup is a bit more involved when switching, but it's the same going from iPhone to Android too and there are tools to make this switch easier in both directions. I do like when my devices communicate, but with that level of thinking my wife is locked into Samsung. She went with the Samsung tablet, Galaxy S23, Buds Pro, and the Samsung watch. I'd say it was different if Samsung used base Android but they don't.

Having had 3 iphones, and 3 androids, currently a Samsung android, I will never go back to an iphone, not if they are free, not if they paid $2500.
My girlfriend wanted me to get another iphone, I refused.
Instead I bought her a Samsung, within a week she wondered why she had been using an iphone.
Bell Mobility had a sale on at the time, $100 per phone to switch to Bell, so it cost me $200 for two new phones.
I'm an android user for life!

Same here as I've been around Apple products for decades and still not impressed with anything they offer. Over priced/hyped and far from superior compared to the Android platform for my use. Apple is just too simple/boring and their idiotic 'ecosystem' is being locked into what they offer and no other way to put it. The Android platform is much more technical, adjustable, open and just dominates in form and function. Will add this analogy... Apple reminds me of the Nintendo Wii in that it's apparently fun, simple, relatively safe, but really pales in comparison to other console platforms that offer much more cutting edge performance. Apple should also stop using kindergarten designs!

I compare them to Toyota. Are they the best? Nope. Latest cutting edge tech? Still nope. Do they retain their value despite all that? Yep. But for the most part it just works, like an appliance should.

I say this as someone who will never buy a Toyota because I find them boring appliances on wheels for people who hate cars and driving. But I can’t deny they make the perfect reliable product for people who want that.

I have an Android and an iPhone, they're both perfectly reliable outside of each having a quirk or two. It comes down to user preference.

I see a Corolla in your future, it'll match your reliable appliance iPhone nicely. :ROFLMAO:

Top of the line iPhone beats them both and cost the same price $599
With that said, go with whatever one likes but many Apple haters overstate the price you can buy an iPhone for.
The iPhone 13 blows both of them both away but it you prefer android that is ok too. But let's be honest with pricing. 🙃

As far as $1,200 that is chump change to some people just like an expensive automobile or boat is to others. We buy the toys we enjoy.
BTW- the Pixel 7A was a gas guzzler with battery life, while the iPhone 13 was a battery life beast. But it all doesnt matter to most, it's about the operating system that someone wants. All iPhones will always be the phone the competition seeks to beat so you cant go wrong with the hardware, it's just a matter of what OS you want.

$1199 is the starting rate for a flagship iPhone 15 ProMax.

But a $599 apple meets and exceeds the performance of the other $599 phones.
A company can call their product "flagship" but that doesn't mean anything except a name.

Here is Samsung's "Flagship" with a starting price of $1,199.
Its good to have choices between quality phones and operating systems 🙃
