iOS 17 is out today Sep 18th, 2023

And finally a battery charge indicator on the main GUIView attachment 179765
Battery charge % was available to be turned on with iOS 16._ Which I turned on months ago.
With iOS 17 you should be able to set a cap (if you wish) to never have the battery charge more than 80%. It's available on the iPhone 15 so I assume with iOS 17 now, if should be soon.

Someone with a pre iPhone 15 and iOS 17 can check out if they have the option.
  • Open Settings
  • Tap Battery
  • Tap Battery Health & Charging
  • Tap Charging Optimization
  • Tap '80% Limit'

I just tried this and it says my battery is degraded and needs service. Current max capacity is 71%.

I'll wait until this weekend and see if 17 pops up. Apple may be throttling rollouts. Who knows? I may wake up to have it saying new update available at some point. :)

I just checked Im on 16.6 and its offering 16.7
BUT
At the bottom on the update to 16.7 page it is offering "Upgrade to iOS 17"

I have 16.6 Battery percentage is the top right corner. I turned it on in settings months ago when 16 came out.
However if you didnt turn it on, it might be by default with iOS 17 that it is turned on.
I dont display battery percentage on my tiles. Below is iOS 16.6

Thanks for the screen shot of 17. It would be worth it to me maybe to limit at 80% and certainly for my wife too as she always manually tried too. 🙃

Some of this is feeling a little bit weird, like where call feature buttons are located. I was on a call and looking around for how to switch to speakerphone mode.

The one concerning thing for me is that there's a lot of "Used Space" now listed for my iPhone and iPad. And with my iPad it's over 12 GB and keeps on saying "Calculating". I even got desperate and reset then recovered from my backup, but that's still there. Maybe the update will fix it. I also see a huge "Used Space" number for my iPhone.

Also 17.0.2 is out, but apparently it only applies to iPhone 15 models.

Didn't fix that issue.

However, I've got some older Apple devices and now iOS/iPadOS 15.7.9 is available. There can be occasional updates of older operating systems when there's a major issue - especially some security fix. And the notes for these updates seem to be about security patches.

Settings>General>iPhone Storage. You might see the culprit there.

Well the update seems to have fixed the Safari jitter. Everything is smooth now.

I also upgraded to Apple TVOS 17. So far so good. They have a new VPN feature that might come in handy in the future.
