Sold thousands of shares today, and grab some sweet Christmas time profit on VE, NCT and WFT. Looking for an exit on CIM, not sure if I'm going to wait till ex dividend. FTE has done nothing for me into either direction lately, but at least there will be a fat dividend.

Not sure on what to do with a ARR. I love pulling those monthly dividends, so I guess I'll just dollar cost average for the forseeable future. It's just that I'm in the red with it right now, so I'm wondering if I'm better off selling taking the tax loss offset a lot of gains, throw the money into LINE or NGPC on a dip, then wait out the IRS statute of limitations and get back in maybe even at a lower price point.

I don't want to sit on a lot of REITs for that long, but for the time being still want that exposure. Not sure what I'll do with ARR.

NCT rocks, I'm up 12% on it. NYMT is doing great as well.

ARR should be fine, imho.

Check out PONDX & THOPX...

I made a good deal on WFT and NCT so it was time to take my profit and let them cycle again. VE will cycle with Europe, but Im really long on it, hopefully I made the right choice. NCT may not cycle in the short run, but it has run up a lot, and I dont think it can go that much further, but WFT will, Im pretty sure. Ive played those cycles and made a ton of profit. I think the cliff will hit and that will be a buying opportunity, then the deal will be made and it will be a selling opportunity.

Of course WFT, VE and NCT will go up another 25c tomorrow and Ill kick myself, Im sure...

Why not hang on to NCT for the dividends? Or, are you not into dividends? Just curious.

Because I bought in around $5 and had made a lot of money. I will be back in that and a few others so long as I can comfortably make heads and tails of safety in them given QE and fiscall cliff and all that.

The $0.31 drop in NCT today is also a reason why. I may buy back in at this level or a little lower and further enhance my profits. Im trading the ups and downs of these high yielding stocks and making a LOT of money. So long as Im holding around ex div, and its still paying, its all good and pretty secure.

I sure do like dividends. Apparently a bit too much so they want to up the tax rate on them...

Futures aren't looking so good this morning. It might be a nice day to be holding Puts or Short the market

Locked in big profits on CAT, NYMT & NCT in my IRA's today!

Now braced with cash ammo to swoop in later.

Anyone else?

I bought QQQ puts yesterday afternoon. The indexes are testing the support trendline from the 2009 lows as resistance (it broke in early November as I mentioned before), and failing. QQQ is having the biggest problem with it thanks to Apple. High probability technical trade. Cashed out mid day for a nice gain. They don't always work out this wonderfully.

I still got it & many other high paying dividend stocks, just not in my rollover IRA, which I won't be tapping for 15-20 years...

I took a glance through my IRA's to see where I had obscene profits to take advantge of and that was one of them.

Could be a good profit taking time for long term capital gains in any taxable account (non IRA/401K). Long term capital gains and qualified dividends are going up, no doubt about it. If they don't do anything in fact, those 0/15% provisions for long term gains and qualified dividends are gone and any capital gain or qualified dividend will be taxed at your ordinary rate. I've read that if they actually make a deal, it will be something like 10% for the bottom 2 brackets and 28% for everyone else (same rate cap gains were for many decades).

It's going to be hard to do, but I'm going to sell one loser in my taxable acct. today to cover some gains made this year.
