I will stick to Exide.

However for some reason, the AC Delco batteries seem to do very well, even though they are also made by JC? The problem with AC Delco batteries is the threaded side post part can sometimes twist out.

You left out the maker of the best batteries made in North America: East Penn. East Penn makes Deka for sale through most retail channels, and is the maker of Carquest house brand batteries.

I believe Werker car batteries, sold by Batteries Plus are made by East Penn as well.

They don't seem to have very good distribution outside Carquest and Batteries Plus. The battery selection at my local Carquest is..limited.

i got some deepcycle there a few years back for a motorhome.
the batteries had stickers with dbmc or something on them.
turns out they were from douglas battery.didnt hold up very well.
got mk(east penn/deka)agm to replace them.
5 years old and still going.

Seems it 's hard for some to understand that even though several brands are built by the same manufacturer, they aren't the same! The brand name's owner can pick several quality/content packages, or have their product built to specs they supply themselves. Same is true of tires and motor oils. As with end consumers, the brand source can only hope they get what they pay for!

Interstate is an excellent battery. We sell Interstate and ACDelco, but 90% of the time we push the interstate. I have one in my car and have put them in family and friend's cars. I learned my lesson with oddball branded ones like "Energizer" and such. Also, Interstate has a huge retailer network, warranty service should not be a problem.

Douglas Battery is history. The brand may live on (though I have not seen any in a while), but the company is gone.
