Internet Explorer won't work anymore

Firefox works just fine but I can't get IE to work. When I open the browser, it just says "Internet Explorer cannot display webpage"

I clicked on diagnose connection problem and this is what pops up:

Anyone have any ideas how I can fix this? I do have AVG on my computer and it is not showing anything wrong with my computer.

You could try not using a proxy on IE. Look up proxy in IE8 help to see how to get to the proxy settings.

Most people don't use a proxy. If that is something AVG sets up, try reinstalling AVG.

AVG did not cause the problem because it happened before I installed it. I ran Avast before AVG so it is possible that Avast caused the problem.

eta: I removed the proxy and that seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks!

Haven't seen any proxies created by either Avast or AVG.
But, have seen 'hijackers' and other malware cause this issue, especially with IE.

So, you either got infected or clicked on something you shouldn't have.

Multiscan your computer. You might find something lurking that was overlooked by Avast and AVG.
