Last week, Microsoft automatically updated my computer and installed IE 11.

Ever since then the program freezes after a minute or 2 and the only way to get the computer working again is to activate the Task Manager and delete running IE11.

I've read that MS has had trouble with IE11, but the problem described doesn't seem to be the same as mine.

In the meantime, I have been using FireFox - but FF has some compatibility issues as well.

Thoughts?

You can uninstall IE 11 and roll back to the version you had before---9 or 10. Not sure how it works on Win 8, but on Win 7: Go to Control Panel/Programs and Features/View Installed Updates. (Or Control Panel/Windows Update/Installed Updates)

Once you uninstall IE 11, you can Hide it so it does not appear on Windows Update---which I recommend be set to anything other than Automatic. When it appears on the update list, right-click on it and check "Hide update."

That way you get to upgrade IE when 'you' decide---not MS. I have no problems with IE 11 on Win 7, but it's not my main browser. Good luck.

Have 4 computers and although I have installed IE11 on them and played with it a bit with no problems, for the bulk of web browsing use Google Chrome.

Try reinstalling IE11, rollback to IE10 and try reinstalling it.
Edit: Also, just use chrome, it's a lot better anyway
I don't use IE, but I installed the internetexplorertan version of IE11. Figured if I'm going to have IE on my computer I might as well have the best version of it, courtesy of microsoft!

They even made a short anime about her. I love the digs at chrome in it.

xD Keep in mind, this is official: from microsoft. It's brilliant, when they posted this on the official facebook page

"When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do.

Why don't you get to know me a little better?"

If you must continue using IE, I suggest uninstalling 11 and rolling back to the previous version, then reinstalling it again.

Yep Alblock Plus.

I always stay with Mozilla Firefox. It has more features and options than Chrome.

I tried Pale Moon for a month. It would not allow me to edit or delete Bookmarks, so I uninstalled Pale Moon and returned to Mozilla Firefox.

IE11 looks young and buggy right now. It will turn out to be decent soon. FF should not have compatibility issues whatsoever. Web developers typically only use FF or Chrome to develop sites. IE is dead in terms of a web development platform, really an afterthought.

Got IE11 pushed to me @ work prior to deploying to 8000 PCs; not sure why the "test group" wasn't the gineau pigs; it is not like I can afford a bricked web experience.

So far (2 days) no issues, but I'm sure MS won't let me down...

firefox also has sync.
I also like to retain at least the illusion of privacy

because its good to have a webbrowser thats made by google for your privacy?

I tried chrome. Went back to firefox.

If firefox is slow maybe you need a new computer? no "slow" noticed here even on core2duo dual cores.

Of course, this is only on an i5-3570K system -- they probably need a new computer.
