That's absurd. I would assume it was from excessive moisture content inside the barrel rather than the oil being refined improperly. I have 15 quarts and all of them look just as clear and golden in color as virgin refined oil.

I have bought some oil and don't even know what I am going to use it in next. I just want Valvoline to keep pumping out this product until re-refined becomes the norm and it loses the stigma that the old acid clay recycling process had.

Plus, old oil going back into your crankcase is FAR better than it being thrown into an incinerator for heating spaces. I can't wait till I am done with school and get settled into a career so I can get rid of my petrol powered car. I'd really like to get into the seat of a Full electric Ford Focus when they become available, and get a solar array for my home.

Sounds like a good plan. I'll admit I was skeptical at first, but after reading the wisdom of those smarter than me - I think I will try it. Plus I can't resist a MIR!

That's okay, I bought a jug and it was leaking so I threw it in the nearest wetland.

So true. When I lived there in the 80's I think we used to get 15 days a year of sunshine!

i have no problem using this recycled oil...its just as good since it has been re-refined. I can't believe serious BITOGers are even questioning using this product!

While the VOA might not prove anything regarding it's actual performance it certainly should dispel and worries about the purity of the re-refined product. As you can see the wear metal and contaminant levels are same or lower than average for VOA's (meaning they are essentially zero). So after seeing that I don't think there can really be any question of its cleanliness or purity.

I heard that motor oil doesn't go bad, it simply loses its additives and gets contaminated with engine byproducts.

So technically, used oil can be cleaned with new additives added and the oil is good as new.

I can't wait for more oil companies to start recycling used oil more and more.
