I can understand the skepticism some, but really do people really think Valvoline would invest so much into this and have their "NextGen" product line meet all the latest specs only to have it fail? Really??? Afraid it won't make it past 3,000 mile intervals or something?!

I want SynNextGen or full synthetic NextGen. Basically, if they can rerererefine oil to group II or 2+, then take it a step further and make it a GroupIII base oil. NextGenSynPower!!!!

I haven't seen a bad UOA with a rerefined oil! This isn't rehashed oil, and 30 years ago, specs were better than what was available in virgin mineral motor oil filled bottles.
Rerefined is not to be confused with iso-filtered used oil.

Seems that used oil is closer to motor oil than raw crude. Less energy used, less waste...Id use it if the price is right.

Id use it, made by Valvoline, yes i would use it. we gotta move on. they would not have it on the shelves if it had not been tested.

Ditto i paid $10 for 5qt jug of QS green that's $2 a qt.
For a buck a qt i may play.
Personally i don't believe a word they claim about it being better for the environment.

Most used oil collected by dealerships and garages here in the NE and other cold climates is burned as heating fuel.This alone is conserving heating oil.
Used oil is also used by other industries also saving "new" raw materials.

Then there is the cost of transporting this old oil,storing it and refining it,it doesn't refine itself with no energy use.
IMO this is nothing more than a sales scheme based on the current oil situation and finding a way to sell this product to a select group.

The article itself states that only 11% of used oil ends up getting recycled, so no one is really arguing with that.

I think you're forgetting about the energy associated with extracting crude from the earth's crust in the first place. Exploration, drilling, etc. is not exactly energy free.

I could just as easily say the same thing about an extended drain oil such as Mobil 1 Extended Performance.

Sounds like they just bottle up the used oil people bring in for recycling and mix it 50-50 with new oil. Sounds like a profit maker to me.
