Interesting rifle- Henry AR7

Bought a few guns about 9 years ago...my first and only AR15, a 1911, a Taurus 65, a Bersa Thunder .380(a regrettable purchase) and a kind of unique rifle, a Henry AR7. I'm no prepper but I liked the concept of the thing. You can fit the entire thing in any backpack or the spare tire well of any car. When the butt plate/pad is in place, it's allegedly waterproof and it floats.
It's got what appears to be a junky peep sight...but the thing is amazingly accurate for a .22 rifle. Even I can shoot the X ring out at 25 yards... easily and consistently.
It came with 2 8 rd magazines and I just ordered 2 more.
Anybody else have or shoot one?

I'm curious, how reliable is it for you?

The AR-7 has a reputation for being extremely unreliable at feeding. That is, until Henry finally started working on improving the quality of the gun several years ago. Now, the reliability is on par with what they got in the Paul Harrell video. So I'm curios how yours is.

Wanted one but they dont have a 1/2 x 28 nfa thread that i know of

I've put maybe 300 rounds through it in 9 years but I've never had any type of jam yet. But... I'm careful to use my better quality.22 ammunition, no Thunderbolt and so far, so good. I just ordered 2 additional magazines for it.
The magazines themselves are not the sturdiest ones out there either. They have a very thin wire slightly hooked spring on the outside that guides the round into the chamber. Probably not the best design.
 
As a boy in the 70's, I wanted a BB gun. Mom said okay, dad said nah, let's get him a .22 rifle. I said yay dad! I know for sure it's not Henry branded, and I'm pretty sure it's Charter Arms. I think they were made under several different brands.

Had lots of fun with it but it eventually started having feed problems, as many do. I think it has to do with the magazine but never dug into it to figure it out. I still have it so maybe one day I'll take the time to do that.

I say yay for your Dad! For sure the magazines are the Achilles heel of almost all variants of the AR7. I just received 2 new spares for a total of 5. I'm good with that. It's accuracy at 25 yards is outstanding considering it's Spartan design.

Armalite actually developed it. back in 1959.
