Interesting GC consumption

At this rate I'll be changing pretty soon as it's sipping at a pretty good pace right now. I guess my car with my driving just is one of those cases where this particular oil doesn't fit.

I, too, was puzzled by my experience. However, my Audi is a bit thirsty on just about every 30 weight oil. It drank Mobil 1 5w30 about the same as GC, and the same with Quaker State 5w30 conventional. I put Quaker State 10w30 conventional in there now, and it's consuming much less, but nowhere near the much better results I get with 40 weight oils.

I'm giving Mobil 1 0w40 a go next. At 13cSt at 100c it's a pretty thin 40 weight, though thick in the bearing and internals where it counts with a HTHS of 3.8 it should give awesome protection for the turbo and internals. Plus if it shears, as most do in my direct injected turbo with subsequent fuel dilution issues that come with direct injection, I feel this oil will provide excellent protection. I ran Mobil 1 15w50 last summer and was pretty surprised at how well that racing oil performed in my car. Butt dyno said it gave me some power somehow. My friend guessed it was creating more compression by its thick film strength. I'm hoping the 0w40 Mobil 1 will do that too.
