Wasn't fast food. The fast ones were able to run away from the hungry ones.

I woulda' made a terrible Aztec sacrifice... my heart wouldn't be in it.

/numerous groans heard across the land

Barbaric to say the least. I've always read that the Aztecs were brutal people. Life is so strange....

Many archaeologists and bleeding heart types still think it's so tragic that the Spanish conquered the Aztecs. I'm not one of them.

It should be pointed out that many native American tribes started cannibalism rumors themselves to keep colonists away. That's why ground-truthing is significant in this case.

That's nothing, they are still up to their dirty tricks and they have gotten more barbaric. Just take a good look at the built in Mexico Pontiac Aztec if you don't believe me. If there ever was a Monctezuma's revenge, that's it.

But a good used car buy. I'll never forget the Aztec. It was heavily hyped on the first season of "Survivor," which came on the only channel I received in the middle of the woods on a field project.

The Spanish didn't stop with the Aztecs, however. They conquered many more peoples who were less cruel and warlike than the Aztecs. But lest we slam Spain too much, we can't forget the Portuguese, teh Dutch, the British, and of course, ourselves. Neither do we have to look only in the Western Hemisphere, more technologicaly "advanced" cultures have a memorable history of slaughtering, conquering, and otherwise oppressing other cultures on every continent except Antarctica. This behavior is not limited to one skin color, religion, language group, or whatever. Everybody joins the fun eventually. The formerly oppressed one day rise to become the new oppressors.
Just the way we are.

and I'm sure it's been this way since the beginning of time.

We are an especially strange culture....some of us always seem to try and fit some past historical event into our own qualitative terms. Best we just see what effect the events had on us, not judge them on our current moral code. It's history, it's over. We have found the Aztecs to be slaughterers and human munchers, and the Spanish to be ruthless conquerers. We cannot now say either was "good" or "bad" - just an event in the past. I'm bummed the Spanish wiped out so much historical evidence but the winners do write the rules (for the next generation or 20

hmmm.. good point. Id venture to guess that most SA people have some 'ancient culture' in them, and guess who are the oppressive illegals coming here now!

What? There is a considerable number of illegal immigrants from SA infiltrating the US? Do they cross first Panama, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico or what?
