I found this very interesting article comparing motorcycle oils to car oils. Read it and lets hear everyone's thoughts on it. Personally I still use regular Castrol GTX 20W-50 in my air cooled BMW R1100S and it runs great. I change the oil every 3K miles with the filter and I'm good to go. Anyway here's the link:

I didn't know that they made an airhead in the 1100S

Okay, just wondering. Though oil heads are oil/air cooled.

Anyhow I've seen that article. I think there have been other tests too. What they fail to mention is how they perform in the bikes.

if you go to the BMWRT site there is spreadsheet with real world oil analysis with several different brands, Amsoil, Mobil 1, and the BMW stuff(both conventional and synthetic)

I wouldn't look too much into the additive levels, more is not always better, it's how it performs.

I personally would prefer synthetic because it will keep the bike cooler especially in the hot summer if you are stuck in stop and go traffic.
