It is what it is. It's already depressing enough. I wish I could elaborate more, but I will obey the rules here.Umm, I think it would be nice if we can avoid politics but, oh well.
Old age and death hopefully a fast painless death in my sleep.
I prefer shot by a jealous husband in my old age

I consider myself blessed. We live in an amazing age, technology is advancing rapidly, and we have capabilities at our fingertips that didn’t exist even a decade ago.
I travel a great deal, and I can get instantaneous traffic, weather, bookings, and updates, enabling a much less stressful experience through better information. I can plan activities, and navigate cities to which I’ve never been before, in just a few minutes using the phone in my pocket.
Medicine has advanced so rapidly, that the things that killed my father, in 1991, when he was younger than I am now, are managed and almost a non-issue for me, though I share his genetic traits and have his risks.
My relatively new vehicle (The Tundra) is incredibly reliable, not to mention equipped with luxury and safety features that didn’t exist on my first car.
Thanks to digital advancement, information for all my hobbies is far more available. Cars, woodworking, you name it, it’s amazing. Even for the Packard, I can find articles, parts lists, and procedures that I couldn’t find even 10 or 15 years.
Even my skis, boots and outdoor clothes, are better than the old stuff by a mile. Warmer, drier, lighter, better-performing.
Life is good, folks. We are very lucky.
For example, we can restore/grant someone's vision with a synthetic eye.
I'll try not to bring in the rest of your statement but isn't this a good thing? If someone lost their eye sights in an accident or if they have a failed kidney don't you think it is a good idea for them to get back to good health and vision if it is possible? It is inhumane otherwise don't you think?
I don't think in 2020 people still have a debate about accepting kidney from an organ donor anymore right?
I agree with you. But where does it end? What happens when synthetic eyes are way better than human eyes?
That's me. Twenty years ago I continually talked about working til I dropped. That fit my elders. Retired a decade ago and I like it a lot better than working. Most people look forward to retirement (whatever that is). I look forward to working until 30 minutes before my funeral. I am very glad I had the wisdom to not bring children into this world. The depressing, and sometimes shocking movies I've watched that involve the future all seem to be coming to fruition. It's a great time to be alive in regard to automobile and other technology, but it's sad watching this plant circle the drain.
There will always be people who choose to upgrade themselves artificially, and there will always be those who choose not to. Breast enhancement is an example, some women choose to do it while others only do it as reconstruction surgery. I think this is expected and humanity has experienced it. We also took fluoride supplement so our teeth grow stronger than what they would have been naturally, I don't think people have problem with it.
I do agree with you about where would it end, I am more concerned about if somehow AI (or enhanced animal brains) have evolved to a point where they need to be classified as "protected" and we cannot do anything to classified them as non human....
I agree with you. But where does it end? What happens when synthetic eyes are way better than human eyes?
But that's the thing. Humanity is being redefined in so many ways. What will it mean in the future?
