Baldwin filters aren't discussed much here so I figured I'd cut one open for fun. IIRC I paid about $8 for this filter.
2004 F-150 4.6l
OCI was 8000 mi on Amsoil 0w-20.
The drainback valve was nitrile, still pliable, appeared to seal well, and made by Parker. The base is thick and the threads were high quality.
The pleats were evenly spaced except near the seam. They were glued into the endcaps. The bypass is an integral part of the endcap and all metal with a coil spring. The support tube was also glued to the endcap. A coil spring also holds the entire assembly together like a Wix.
The media was in good shape, no bends or breaks, and no apparent pieces of anything (metal, carbon, etc) in the media. The seam is crimped.
