Just changed filter and oil in my Durango 5.9 magnum.
Got a cheapo filter wich had four noticabely smaller inlet holes
compared to mopar filter with six big ones..
Now what happened?
No the engine didnt break down or so but it got a strange behaviur during warm up. Its freaking cold here now so its easily
to see it happen.
Cold engine- nice and high.."High+".
Engine starting to become lukewarm- oilpressure is lower than usual. But not "low" moore like "High-"
Engine hot- back to normal."High".
Why?- my teory is that the engine internals heat the cold oil so that the holes become a bigger restriction until the oil is at normal temp. Dont like this behaviour so it will be back to "mother" next time.

Measure and add up the holes. Keep in mind that they are, more or less, orifices. Measure the interior diameter of the threaded stud. ..then realize that most of your pressure is developed by the engine in the massive restriction that it ends up being to flow. I mean, it's not like you're pumping into thin air ..it's work to squeeze all that oil through all the passages.

Then come back and give us your conclusions...
