When I lived in Florida someone told me this story: They had a big upright freezer that the compressor died on. When plugged in, it would start smoking and blow the fuses. He replaced it with a more compact model, but the company wouldn't take it away. He asked around, and everyone wanted 50-$75 to haul it off.
That night he rolled it out to the curb and put a "For Sale-$300" sign on it. Early in the morning he heard someone loading it on their truck. He waited until he was pretty sure it was on the truck, then came out yelling while they sped off. I still laugh about that.

Wow DREW99GT -- Sounds like you need to move down here to Texas. In Texas you can actually use deadly force on car burglars as long as it is nighttime.

LOL, whenever I see something with a sign that says "free" by the road I think "they should have just asked a few hundred bucks". You might actually get it...or someone will remove it for you.

(I'd still call the cops and report their license plate though!)

I love all the tough guy dirty harry talk on here.

You guys must be some bad mofo's to run to a message board full of oil nerds and talk tough about what you would do "if" you get the chance.

I don't see much out of whack with the outrage ..heck, and just plain RAGE you're seeing here. We like to think of ourselves as just and fair people, but it can be a challenge at times. If Drew got to see the kids ..I doubt he would really imagine knee capping them or any of the various acts you see described here.

It's nothing to do with being a tough guy. It's about having a chunk of your perfectly civil and harmless life taken from you. There are no cowards or tough guys in that reaction formation. It's YOUR life that someone trespassed against and they gave up the right to ask how upset you got about it. Forgiveness for that is now in YOUR court.

Like I said earlier.......tough talk on the internet.

Maybe it impresses the guy in the next cubicle but when you go online and declare your willingness to shoot, kill, maim,,etc,,etc you might actually run into someone that deals with real criminals and calls you on the fact that you are spewing [censored].

Spewing bull [censored]. No, not at all actually. I'm just someone who cherishes my life and my family's life as sacred, and I'm vocal about my willingness to use the rights and laws afforded to me by the Constitution and the state I live in to defend them.

Sorry you take offense to that, but that's your problem, not mine.

Thanks for your concern though.

People are more inclined to do what you say when you point a revolver at them.

(as in, lay down, shut up, and wait 'till the cops get here)

I even bought some of those plastic zip tie handcuffs the police use at riots and such...haven't got to use them...yet.

I grew up in a small town and live in a big town. I still lock everything up on my car whether I'm here or there. Valuables go in the trunk and the trunk switch inside the cabin gets locked too. It's a lot more of a PITA to get into a trunk than it is to bust a window.

As for leaving things unlocked in a small town, I'm not so sure. I think a lot of people still believe that way judging by the criminal report in my hometown's local paper. 90 percent of the reported crimes are petty theft, with the owner often reporting that the car/garage/house was unlocked during the theft.

I don't care if its 80 cents or and 800 dollar laptop, lock it up! And keep it out of view! Thieves don't steal things they don't know are there!

Another thing I never understood was people pulling up to their house/apt with the 1000 dollar stereo system in the car blasting. Not only is it annoying, but they just let everyone in the neighborhood know which car to break into!

Gun control, belief that a woman dead and raped in her own house is somehow morally superior than the one with three shells at her feet, her clothes still on her body, handing the gun to the police.

Yeah, we have some guns, I hope I never have to use them. The same as car insurance. Just in case

Oil nerds? You post here too.....so.....welcome to the club!

This "Dirty Harry" will protect his family, life and property, no matter what.

Have you ever noticed that guys that have been in a shooting don't talk about it?

I actually live in a world where people get shot and the fact remains that more than half of the "dirty harrys" on here will cower in fear if the time ever comes. It's not an insult. It's just a fact. It is why it is called "fight or flight" instead of just "fight".

No offense fellas. I just have a different perspective from being in many life or death situations due to my line of work and I have seen many "tough guys" go fetal when the [censored] hits the fan.

What's to talk about? You were threatened (perceived or verified) within an inch of your life. Not a topic anywhere outside of some confidant or a therapist.
