They probably get tired of being asked what the formulation is. LOL.

Consumers are also very misinformed when it comes to motor oil. Mobil's website has a huge Q&A section with a lot of answers to most questions.

Mobil was the first to come out with a mass market 0w20 synthetic and they ended up pulling it and making their 5w20 because consumers did not want to use a "0w" oil when a "5w" was called for.

My gut tells me MSDS could have a typo rather than the oil being reformulated. Like the other posters said, a) go by the product sheet and/or b) contact the company for a clarification.

Good luck getting to somebody who knows anything if you choose the "b" route.

I don't think it is a mere typo or a reformulation. The MSDS viscosities for HM 5w30 is almost exactly the PDS viscosities for HM 10w30. The MSDS viscosities for HM 10w30 cannot be compared to the PDS viscosities for HM 5w30 because Mobil 1 has not published them yet. But when they do publish the PDS for HM 5w30, you will see that the viscosities match the MSDS for HM 10w30. That's all I was telling them, but they don't seem to care.

I have used many oils - various Mobil 1s included. I have nothing bad to say about the quality of Mobil 1 oils. At the present time I am using Red Line. These three oil companies (in no particular order) have always answered my questions and seemed knowledgeable about their products and their customer satisfaction - Amsoil, Royal Purple and Red Line.

I don't see why they should be overly concerned. The MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is for finding out info on hazardous material, not product specifications such as viscosity. For product specs see the Product Data Sheet.

They were very helpful to me as well. Seems the smaller companies care a little more about the customer, although Pennzoil was very good too.

Their replies and condescending tone is what stopped me from using Mobil 1. Prior I had used it as the only synthetic oil in my 88 E150 from when it was 6 months old until Dec 2008.

I deal with attitudes all day long, I won't pay out my hard earned cash and be treated like cr..............ap from a Monopoly. There are better products that cost less too. Rant off. My opinion, others differ.

I agree completely....

However, after sitting in a tire/lube shop for an hour the other day I start to understand why the employees have an attitude. Ignorant customer after ignorant customer giving them [censored] and questioning everything was even annoying me. The customers were starting off with an attitude while spouting off some ignorant stuff.

I'm in no way saying this was the OP, just saying the M1 employees probably didn't start out with the attitude.

I see your point, however being in business CS is very important, being courteous and respectful is a must. I eat a lot of [censored] being in a service business, that's the game.

In day to day life I start off treating each person I deal with, with respect, and give them credit for having intelligence, from there they prove themselves. At that point my treatment of them becomes a mirror image. Seemed Mobil came out of the gate with the [censored] attitude, I was very respectful BTW.
