Was perusing the newest MDSs for Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 and 10w30 and here is what it says:

Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30: Viscosity: 78cSt @ 40C / 11.8cSt @ 100C

Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30: Viscosity: 62.6cSt @ 40C / 10.1cSt @ 100C

The latest PDS for Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 :

Viscosity: 78.2cSt @ 40C / 11.79 @ 100C (there is no PDS available for HM 5w30)

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Me thinks some chaw bacon at Mobil 1 has interchanged the data on the 5w30 and 10w30 MDSs.

What say?

Too logical, easier to post a thread and whine about it and make assumptions...

I don't think that the specs published by any the motor oil companies are 100% accurate. The percentage of people who actually look at those specs is pretty small. Besides, the MSDS is not really a place to get specifications, it is a place to find out hazardous materials. Probably best to look at the product data sheets and then contact M1 if you have a question or concern.

I did, and explained that I thought the MDS data for the viscosity #s of Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w30 and HM 10w30 were interchanged.
The technical????? representative's response was "Yeah. So what?" Let's hope Mobil's chemists do not have the same flippant attitude.
Not good PR for a BITOG sponsor.

What oil do you normally use?

The "technical representatives" work for the marketing department.

Besides, as previously noted, the MSDS is for reporting hazardous material, not for listing all the specs. Try the product data sheet for that.

Another person that shares my opinion. Mobil's tech people leave a lot to be desired. I had a few email replies to questions I had asked a while back, their responds were not very polite, typical of an unhappy employee, or a parent attempting to discipline a child (LOL). Their replies and condescending tone is what stopped me from using Mobil 1. Prior I had used it as the only synthetic oil in my 88 E150 from when it was 6 months old until Dec 2008.

I deal with attitudes all day long, I won't pay out my hard earned cash and be treated like cr..............ap from a Monopoly. There are better products that cost less too. Rant off. My opinion, others differ.

I've noticed in many cases the smaller companies give you better customer service. If you ever do call Mobil, ask for Matt Jacob.

A big "Amen" to what you said.
The customer's satisfaction always comes first, otherwise eventually there will be no company - even a greed infested colossus like Exxon-Mobil.

I agree completely....

However, after sitting in a tire/lube shop for an hour the other day I start to understand why the employees have an attitude. Ignorant customer after ignorant customer giving them [censored] and questioning everything was even annoying me. The customers were starting off with an attitude while spouting off some ignorant stuff.

I'm in no way saying this was the OP, just saying the M1 employees probably didn't start out with the attitude.

Mobil Tech has always been curtious to me and very helpful. However there is always that one guy that may not represent the company in their best interest. With that said XM didn't get to be one of the most successful corporations in the world by making a habit of insulting customers. You just got that one guy.
Also I agree with BuickGN that they must get some really off the wall questions. We at BITOG need to be sure we don't ask those type of questions.

It happens with a number of companies. The guys answering the phones aren't the brightest or best trained and are probable not paid well either.

Just because you get a rude clerk at Walmart, K Mart, Krogers, Lowes, Home Depot are any other retailer would you stop trading there? If you did there wouldn't be any place left to shop. See my point.
