You don't belong here unless you have a stash of over 150 quarts of oil at any given time.
We are Bob Is The OCD Guy after all.You don't belong here unless you have a stash of over 150 quarts of oil at any given time.
We still can......I could have purchased a Ferrari!
Not a bad starter list...however, you forgot to include the ubiquitous Mityvac type oil extractor praised by so many on BITOG!Oooooo, I don't have one of those! More accurately, I didn't have one of those.
Taking a more proactive approach to my own car maintenance again, I found this forum. I've also realized there are many tools and gadgets I don't/didn't have. There wasn't any tool I didn't have to do what needed to be done, but these are things I didn't realize just how much I needed:
Hi. My name is rsctso and I'm addicted to buying things I perceive may be needed in the future.
- Magnetic Drain Plug Tool
- Large Oil Funnel with Adapter for my Engine
- HPL PPPCMO Oil, although I have Amsoil SS for three more OCs. Waiting for the 4th-of-July sale for more HPL
- Lisle Funnel Kit for drain/fill coolant... and my car is brand new!
- Jaco Digital Tire Pressure Gauge, because my analog ones, and the built-in Milwaukee 18v Inflator might be off by .2 PSI
- Folding Oil Drain Funnel
- Oil Filter Cutter
- Oil Absorbent Pads
- Portable Ramps
- Pair of Heavy Duty Wheel Chocks
- And of course, a Five Gallon, HD, Leak-Proof Container to take the used oil for recycling
Obviously!Tools for sure
Do I really need mid length 1/4 sockets?
The full HF 10mm set?
Flashlights, knives oh yeah fancy erse pliers and cutters of every stripe
I could have purchased a Ferrari!
Ok, I qualify there. Otherwise I haven't made many impulse buys. Last one was when someone posted about Advance Auto getting rid of oil, some version of Mobil I think, and that was a while ago.You don't belong here unless you have a stash of over 150 quarts of oil at any given time.
Great plan. In 6 months you can buy the tools you really wanted.Ha! On the cusp of retirement, I just sold off about 2/3 of my tools and automotive equipment in my garage sale.
My philosophy is to not do a thing that resembles "work" in any form in my retirement that I don't have to do. After 40 years of rotating 12hr shift work and 60hr work weeks, I deserve all the rest and leisure I can get. Absence of tools=leisure for me! LOL.
Go for it Pablo! Then you will get to buy even more tools! Win-win!I could have purchased a Ferrari!
If I plan on no money at 75 yes indeedGo for it Pablo! Then you will get to buy even more tools! Win-win!
Got one already. Used it to change the oil on the Audi before getting rid of it for the Honda. At least it can be used to bleed the brakes in a few years when it's time. Not a bad starter list...however, you forgot to include the ubiquitous Mityvac type oil extractor praised by so many on BITOG!
December 2019, Mobil Super 5000 10w30, $3.65 for 5 quarts.Ok, I qualify there. Otherwise I haven't made many impulse buys. Last one was when someone posted about Advance Auto getting rid of oil, some version of Mobil I think, and that was a while ago.
Thank you, just for clarity I don't consider mine real manual labor. Its a technical role (GC, LC, GC-MS), but the hours are long. I started shift work at 21, and I am 61 now. In August my 40 year career ends!Congratulations on your near-retirement. I'm planning on sticking with my day job for now, as it affords me the opportunity to travel to London on their dime. Also, I work at home at a desk all day, and have rekindled the joy ofworkingpiddling on my vehicle. If my full-time job was manual labor, I wouldn't be the least bit interested in doing it, either.
That sounds right.December 2019, Mobil Super 5000 10w30, $3.65 for 5 quarts.
I don't remember my MIL's dog's name but I remember this stuff.
