Meaning? I don't get why the base oil is coming into question. All the synthetic oils contain a portion of group III base oils.
Not all synthetics start with group 3 basestock. If your gonna spend the money on synthetics there are only 3 that are worth your money. Royal purple(contains moly)red line and AMSOIL. The rest of this stuff while good oils aren't worth it. Mobil 1 is the biggest load I ever read about. They have a great marketing team tho


I'm not going to respond to your nonsense about what is and isn't worth it. All the oils on this chart have group 3 base stocks, that is what I was referring to.

I've just ordered a new "Great Wall" Chinese SUV with an "old" Mitsubishi 4cyl. engine! Three years unlimited distance Warranty. Gotta use Royal Purple, Red Line, Amsoil though - choices.................

CATERHAM - Garak beat you to it all!

Mobil 1 0W-40 is around $A19-23 per litre and $A100 for 5 litres at present

Do you know if Caterham will have a stand at the Goodwood Revival this year?

I can't tell if you are joking on this one but I'm going to take is as though you are not.

Click on the link that you, yourself, provided. You will find that NOACK for the 5w30 is 7%, the 10w30 is <15%. Clearly, this is what Valvoline states.
 
Using these kinematic viscosity charts to extrapolate down to -20C is not accurate even for 0W-XX oils.
About the lowest you can go with any sort of comparative accuracy is -15C for 0W-XX oils, -10C for 5W-XX oils and -5C for 10W-XX oil.

Doug, those prices would be called nothing short of insane in NA.
The list price for Mobil 1 0W-40 is about $10/L in Canada but if you shop aroundyou can get it down to $7 or $8. In the States it's about 30% cheaper still.

I'm not up on all of Caterham's activities in the UK. You could email them and ask prior to your UK trip.

Great video thanks!

On my first ever lap I had an "incident" where the Videos's driver lost it @ 3.51 - I just "straightened out" the corner. At around 5.52 - entry to and exit from the bridge over Adenau's main street - has claimed a few. At 8.20 you get some idea how rough the Karussell is. A great track and you can see how the shadows stop the track drying quickly in places. That's what got me at 3.51!

It is a great Driver's track and one I love!

No, not joking at all. Just interested in getting your chart to reflect the real values that Valvoline provides.

I may have undiagnosed dyslexia for all I know, but that link clearly reads 8% for 10w30 and 10.5% for the 5w30. I cant find any grade of Valvoline Synpower that has a NOACK of "less than 15%" for the spec.
