If you had to use a jobber/cheap filter what would you use?

You can walk into a Canadian Tire and pick up a Fram Ultra but for a few dollars less you can get Motomaster OE Plus which is a Champ XL clone. Both go on sale periodically. Only in Canada. :D
I’m running the Motomaster OE+ on my Civic right now. I think I paid $11.99 Canadian for it and at that time there was a deal on the app that gave me $5 back in CT money 😃 That’s one thing I like about buying stuff at CT, if you pay attention to the weekly offers there are a few times a year where they offer $5 back and you only need to spend $8-10. It’s too bad that PartSource doesn’t offer those deals, as they have the Pro Series OE+ oil filters that are PG made and rated for up to 24,000 km

If you follow a solid maintenance regimen, it's just not that important as long as the filter meets manufacturer's requirements. I'm just coming to the end of two cases of Group7 (Purolator) V241s (same as Fram 3614) I bought from Rock Auto over three years ago for 10 bucks a case. These fit three of my vehicles and have been just fine. I've been doing it this way for a long, long time. Do you really want to argue with my 258K-mile Caravan that still uses next to no oil...or my 39-year-old daily driver Dodge Daytona?

If I can't find a similar deal when the Group7s run out, I'll probably grab the SuperTechs from W-M.

People really, really overthink this.

Here's my experience with oil filters. I worked for a company for 16 years. I had my own service vehicle where I was charged with oil changes and repairs. I didn't do them personally, but had them done in my friends garage. He used champion filters. I would run the vans up to the 200k range, give or take before getting a new replacement. My old vans were handed down to new guys, or used for shop trucks. Like any company vehicles they were run hard. We never had engine failures due to the type of oil used from his shop, or due to oil filter failures. Transmissions were serviced by the book, also no failures there. Everything else on the vans had to be replaced at some point, but no engines or trans. Knowing and seeing that personally, I used to have my wife's vehicle serviced at my friends shop, again no failed engines or wear issues. So paying alot more for a Gold plated, diamond encrusted oil filter which will spend eternity in a dump along with a billion others, never seemed worth the added expense.,,,

Wonder why they pulled the MP filters - real value in those …
(eBay finds on one vehicle and my lawn tractor now) …
the odd thing was they only had the 7317 size in the MP line and not in the ST line. They have the ST6607 ,but its a shorter filter

Me personally if I wanted to I’d probably go Prime Guard since they are $2.99 or. CARQUEST premium since I can get them $4. Wouldn’t touch ST or any First Brands filth though.

What would you use?

Where can you purchase Prime Guards? Can't say i've seen them anywhere, at least on the shelf in AZ. On Rockauto, I can get the "Various MFG" option for 1.83/filter which looks to be Pronto (PG made). After shipping, still ends up around 3/each if I buy 10.

No I wouldn't. I've never won an argument with a vehicle. Sad, really

CHILDHOOD GIFT:
A neighbor bough a 1965 Ford tractor new (55hp). I was 8.
I knew about John Deere tractors and asked why he didn't get a JD.
"Oh, your JD is a better machine but any machine is only as good as the maintenance it receives".
I could've been a BITOGer then.
