If I Go 7500 OCI Do I Change Filter Sooner?

Thanks for the info, guys.

The pressure test was interesting, for sure. That's half of what I'm looking for.

Just to clarify, Gary is writing about pounds per square inch differential. If you have, say, 80 psi going in and 70 psi coming out, you have 10 pounds per square inch of pressure differential, or 10 psid.

And, just for clarity, I call the valve in the oil pump assembly the pressure control valve, and I call the valve in the oil filter assembly the pressure relief valve. The pressure relief valve in the filter is expected to open every time cold oil is pumped through the filter. I haven't seen any filter made to filter both thick cold oil and thin hot oil. If the pressure relief valve didn't open with thick cold oil, the filter media would always rip, or the center tube crush, or other failure of the filter.

I would not change it at 3500. But I would do a used oil analysis on the oil at 7500 just to make sure you are not pushing the oil past it's limit. I do 5000 OCI's on my vehicles because of the OLM data that shows me about 5500 miles gets my GMC to 1%. So that is my rule since 2/3 are still in warranty. After warranty I may go 5500-6000 but will do a 5500 used oil analysis. I use wix napa gold and a few dissections reveal they are not clogged at all at 5000.

For a good price on wix try http://www.fleetfilter.com which is a BITOG sponsor.
