Idaho College Killer Suspect Arrested

He's been arrested and charged with 4 counts of 1st degree murder ... once that happens his name is fair game in all aspects. If they have solid DNA evidence, he will be convicted for sure. DNA is very solid in court ... especially blood evidence in a case like this, and I'm sure they have all kinds of other evidence to boot.
Remember the OJ trial?

Pretty long video, but pretty comprehensive info on the arrest.

Good post - at 1:53 minute into this video is seems to show that there is a security camera on the roof. I am sure the FBI is already reviewing footage IF it was working and high quality. However I doubt the loop would go all the way back that far to the night of the murders.
Still might help see his activity in the last month or maybe a couple weeks.
Sadly a lot of this type of equipment is outdated and old compared to the new stuff but maybe they will get lucky and be more updated.

Crazy people having been murdering people long before the internet.
Any nutcase can hang around a college town, or any bar, they dont need the internet. I am sure they are investigating this guy now to see if we have a serial killer on our hands.

Yep. Difference today is there are cameras everywhere and massive DNA databases. A random camera caught a white Elantra in the vicinity at the time of the murder and they ran the unknown DNA found at the crime scene through the FBI databases and they identified their suspect. All of those ancestry kits create a database and if the suspects relatives used them, they can identify other family members utilizing those samples.

Im not questioning what you are saying but I have not heard anywhere that this is factual on this suspect.
(meaning the FBI confirmed DNA on him before his arrest)

Boy, I guess we will have the answers in the coming weeks. Kind of creepy of what could be but maybe it wont be and limited to that god awful attack on the 4 and as Pablo mentioned, is someone else involved?
I suspect they have the answers? But, time will tell we know there is way more to the story somehow. Kudos to the police for keeping whatever it is under wraps for now. I kind of have faith they know WAY more than we do and learning fast now with the arrest.

These Idaho murders remind me of the Gainesville, FL ripper…

Yes I heard that someplace too, we need to be careful about what the media reports at this early stage. In my mind how would they track him with DNA if he was never arrested? They wouldn’t have any from him.
DNA from the crime scene (blood and/or stuff under the victims fingernails, etc), then the use of DNA genealogy from the public DNA databases. Crimes have been solved using this technique. Or, they got a good tip like maybe a report of the white Elantra in Pennsylvania, and then they collected DNA after following him around for 4 days as they are saying the FBI was doing in Pennsylvania where he was arrested. DNA is the most powerful tool to solve crimes these days. Heard they had 50-60 FBI agents working this case. After they do a complete investigation of his car, apartment and office at WSU they will most likely have so much solid evidence that he'll be in jail in Idaho for the rest of his life.

Lot easier to find out about people in today's digital world than it was without it. Espesially when people plaster personal stuff all over social media. Heard we was actually following a couple of the girls on social media. Forensics of his electronics will give more info on that.

Not sure what you're referring to ... I don't see anything at 1:53 that looks like a security camera. I'm sure the police/FBI have got any available surveillance video from all possible cameras.

Oh crud~ !! I just went back to take a screenshot for you and I am wrong, it's a tree branch I think. Being I was in the industry for a short period of time my brain said it was a camera mounted on a short pole with a cable dangling down to the roof. Here is a close up. I didnt notice the branch going up by the white trim.

I find this stuff heart wrenching, I can’t imagine the heartache the families are going through.

“Steve Goncalves said no one in the family knows or recognizes the suspect, but in the hours since they've first learned his name they are starting to see connections between him and Kaylee Goncalves that they aren't ready to discuss yet.”

Nobody would know yet if it was.
I was talking about the OJ case - how did they get OJ's blood and put it at the crime scene and in is Bronco before they even knew what was going on? Evidence wasn't "planted" in the Idaho case either ... they didn't even know the guy.
