I used Nexxus on my leather

I ran out of leather balms, so I just used some Nexxus Phyto Organics shampoo and conditioners. Cleaned with a small a amount of shampoo and water (it was dirty) wiped dry and used conditioner pretty much the same way. Instead of a sticky coating of beeswax and stuff, it made the leather supple and soft.

Am I too cheap and lazy to buy a specific auto leather product? Yes, but the ingredients like the in a product like this are top-notch, like the high-grade lipids. Whatever, it worked great. I have a ton of the stuff I got on closeout. My seats and steering wheel are like butter. (2 year old car).

As long as there isn't too much film, you are golden using such a product. Well as long as your leather doesn't start growing hair.

The leather in most production cars is more like vinyl than some luxurious skin. And most auto leather care products are lousy, only a small number of good ones.

You would be surprised how similar car care products are to skin care products. Many of the same ingredients, chemicals, formulations, etc.

Id hope that 2-yr old leather was still soft and decent anyway. Otherwise it really is some cheap junk leather, maybe vinyl over leather, and really a shame...

Are you sure youre not confusing some sort of a coating/film/slipperyness for "soft"?

After a light wet "drying" with another clean towel to even out the conditioner and thin it to soak in, I lightly recoated the two front seats and steering wheel, then intend to leave it be. That's how I normally do it since it's only once a year, I want to put the most product into play as possible. I don't like too much product in the seams, so I wipe clean/wet there pretty briskly and the recoat is just the main part of the surfaces. Dirt in the seams means it kills the stitching, so I do my best to keep that part clean.

Like I was saying, it feels better than after my normal bees wax / neutral shoe polish / auto leather balm brew. I could do this process more often. If I can keep it clean, maybe I'll recondition it once more before winter and then go at it in the spring. It's probally only been done twice in 2 years.

The leather is actually really nice in this 07 Accord. A tough heavier leather, which I like. It's far from perfect, with dog nail scratches here and there. That's why I have it though, so I can buff it clean and go from there.
