I think my battery is getting weak.

Die Hard Platinum (Can't get them in canada) are re-badged Odysseys. You can do a little research on those, but Optimas are having some troubles from what I've read these days.

Odysseys are the best I've heard of as far as batteries these days, and if you slap a die hard platinum sticker on them, they're pretty much half price.

Might be a good reason to go down to Buffalo, take in a Sabres game, have wings at Frank and Teresa's anchor bar and pick up a die hard platinum.

Agreed. Pretty much the best battery you can get. The Amsoil of battries, if you will.

A friend of mine is running one in his truck....he runs everything he can off that battery..labtop, phones, TVs....whatever he can plug in.....

And that battery just takes it....

I've been wanting to try the Platinum battery too. My Redtop is nearly done after 1.5 years. It definitely won't make it through this winter and I need to replace it before it kills the starter and alternator.

I go to Cheesecake Factory instead, then I'm so tired from all the Carbs that I usually take a nap.

Thanks for the battery suggestion.

How does the DieHard Platinum hold up to Interstate. I usually get 10 years out of their batteries.

Also is the DieHard Platinum a Spiral Cell?

Where do I get that in the US? Is that a Sears Brand? Not familiar.

I checked on sears.com website and they don't carry a DieHard Platinum for my vehicle

Only the cheaper DieHard series...

when my batteries go in the explorer / stratus i'm planning to use Odyssey.

Auto shop teacher put one in his 1968 Dodge coronet, drove it for a couple months, then stored it away 1.5 years. It started right back up.

That's past the time of some optimas.

and yea I don't like the exides. My stratus came with a motormaster eliminator from canadian tire, and it was already shorted in 2 years. I managed to get it out (why's chrysler put the batteries in the drivers side fender?) and got it tested, but I couldn't get it exchanged without a receipt. Luckily for me the guy that was working there it was his last day, and didn't care, and processed the transaction for me. Unfortunately i'm about 8 months into my new motormaster 72 and its cranking slower, and drops down to about 11.9-12.2 volts overnight, and immediately after shutting off it drops to 12.8 with no load.

So yea, don't buy an exide. no canadian tire batteries made by exide.

Look around for an odyssey dealer. They have 4 year free replacement then proratedup to 10 years i believe. And a lot of hot cranking amps. (more CCA's too, but the hot cranking amps is where they shine!). The reason they're so expensive is that they're made from virgin lead, and not recycled lead, like most other batteries out there.

Thanks for the info... Looking for a local dealer right now.

East-Penn Deka has a reputation for lasting here. Whilst your average battery only lasts a year to 18 months at most, the Deka's tend to last 3 years.

So I got an Odyssey Battery for my truck. It has 200CCA more than the last one and came with a 10 year total warranty with free exchange until the 7th year and pro-rated exchange for year 8,9 & 10.

It was $200 CDN (Taxes included) so about $80 more than the Interstate would have cost me but the warranty, higher CCA, and the build quality is what sold me.

The rep at the place in Hamilton where I bought it was very good and very knowledgeable too. It has a coast to coast warranty too.

The thing was Freakin' heavy compared to my last one so it must be full of lead.

Anyways it is in and the SF is good to go again.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I honestly would go for an Odyssey. I was very impressed with the battery. The dealer in Hamilton had a cut open model on display to show how it was constructed inside. It looks very well built.

With a 7 year full warranty and 10 year total with proation it has to be a very tough battery.

They also make Medical batteries for pacemakers etc. so they gotta know their stuff IMO about battery technology. Sure it isn't the same battery but it makes me think they know what they are doing.

Plus they must have a good customer base because they have been around a long time but are obscure to find and I haven't seen any commercials so they must have a strong following to still be around.

Are you sure about that warranty??? The Odyssey official website lists the warranty as 4 years free exchange only.
