By the looks of things... the blower on my furnace....
The bearings are supposed to be lubed with S.A.E. 40 motor oil every 90 days... according to the sticker.

That'd be that ND stuff that you DON'T put in the car right? I know ND is also for Air Compressors.

Are those open bronze bushings or sealed roller bearings?

ND 30 or 40 weight should work.

Some of the newer bearings are sealed with a synthetic grease.

Yes, our coal stoker needs ND40 or ND50 for the auger to pull coal into the furnace.

It's got caps you open and squirt oil in. It's a 70's model. Feel the disco fever....

Wood panel was here when I bought the place... no shag carpet. The walls are PLASTER... I do like that. With a 3 year old running toys into it, it's rock hard compared to drywall.

The house has undergone a gradual renovation.

You heat with coal? I used to load my grandmothers house furnace with coal,,that was 1960 in Chattanooga, now we cant get coal delivered anymore, its not even available, wow, how time goes........................

I was a kid, and my grandparents had horse hair plaster...we'd find a string, and pull off...well lots of plaster.

Original coal feeders were likely to have used a high tallow railroad bearing lube...

It's a Natural gas forced air heat/cool... made by SINGER... yeah.. the sewing machine guys.

I lived in houses till I was 11 that were heated by a Warm Morning coal stove setting in the middle of the living room and another in the kitchen... We did have a electric stove, most of my relatives heated the house with the wood burning cook stove in the kitchen and maybe a small coal or wood stove in another room...

Our mountain house built in the early 80's has a dual fuel coal and oil stoker. Run coal when it is coldest out, so that the fire stays burning, oil the rest of the time for convenience.

So that was an early 80's coal furnace, and there is still coal to be had. Since it is a vacation place, we just buy sacks or buckets of coal and downsized the coal bin; used to take 5 tons.

Burns great and is very efficient. Dirty though. You know when we've been burning coal because the basement is dustier. No backdrafts or vent issues, coal is just dirty.
