Latest rant - the last 3 shell's have pulled into the published price was Cash only. 10 cents more for credit card. I realize credit card charges them a fee - but the chains are the same price and don't do this - Wawa, Loves/Flying J, QT, Parkers, etc. If they made it clear before I pulled in that would be fine also - I could decide.

Many of these places are looking like the 3rd world anyway vs the almost spotless chains. Non working pumps, non working auto hold on, etc.

Never figured I would get here, but I am tired of rewarding lousy service. I will make an exception for a couple local stations that have stayed good for now, but mostly I will be buying at the chains. I will buy my own Techron at Walmart and call it TT. :ROFLMAO:

These days I only frequent big, high volume super clean gas stations with the exception of the newer Murphy in my area. IMO If the property looks run down so is the condition of the tanks. I refuse to suffer old or dirty diesel. I also bypass any station that has 2 different prices.

Cash/credit pricing is very common in both GA/ATL and NC/CLT where I spend most of my time. A lot of the electronic signs will alternate between each.

I am OK if they publish both. The local Parkers (local chain out of Savannah) does 10 cents if you have there debit card. The publish both prices. I don't wan't there card but there regular price is the same as everyone else so I often go. High volume, new clean station.

This is why I love Costco.
Amen! I was using QT for a while because they were Top Tier and gave a good discount through their app, plus they were always very busy so I figured fresh gas. After a few months, however, the discount was cut in half, so I started looking around and found a very convenient Shell station, and an Exxon directly across the street, and both supposedly have excellent add packs. Plus, through various apps I was able to get a discount at both (Wal-Mart app gives .10/gallon discount at Exxon). I started to notice very quickly that the pumps were not very well maintained and neither was very busy......... so I started looking again. AS a Costco member, I had typically avoided the long lines at their pumps, but they have Top-Tier (now TT+) gas and what is reported to be an really good add-pack. Also, on top of being significantly cheaper than anybody else around, they should always have fresh gas based on how incredibly busy they are, and their pumps and grounds look brand new and spotless. I've decided it's worth the extra 10 minutes to get there. and waiting in line.

It wasn't that long ago when gas stations advertised different prices for cash and credit.

They still do here in Orange County, CA. There is a Mobil up the street from me, on the way home from the beach to snag all the tourists, that charges $1 extra for card. They hide the sign with the credit price on the quiet cross-street.

Most of the older Speedway locations are also pretty ragged.

They appear to be starting to divest themselves of some of those locations.
I was surprised the other day when I went past an older Speedway location (back to the SA days) that is located in a rather nice area that recently became an Amoco.

Not many Costco's on the interstate. Zero in fact.

Only 2 Costco's in our 1M population city. Not truly a option for most on a regular basis.

I don't stray far from the house and have two Costcos I frequently pass and both have huge gas stations so lines are minimal/none. Everyone's gas station situation is unique and regional, but if Costco is an option it's at the top of my list. Top tier, clean, fresh gas, no card skimmers, no games.

I have not used any station except Costco for a few years now. Freshest gas, tanks are monitored, additive level is beyond keep clean. Newer stations are huge and no queues, although the best prices are in busier areas since Costco apparently sets price in reference to local pricing.

My local Exxon has all the perks mentioned for Costco....Great for 87 octane but premium 93 was the most expensive by far in this area while Sunoco 94 was priced like Exxons 89..

I have the Costco Citi credit card which is 5% cash back on gas at Costco and 4% cash back at all other gas stations.

So $5 a gallon right now gets me $0.20 back per gallon on gas, so it’s cheaper to use a credit card and pay the fee.
