Being Towed back to the Dealership! I was at my local Acura Dealership picking up some wiper inserts and noticed this Car with a sold sign in the window. Now the same car is being towed Back a few days later! Humm, quality issues? so much for the JD Powers Survey that the new owners will be getting in the mail.

Maybe the buyer's financing fell through.
That seems expensive, But possible, It was sitting behind a fence with the sold sign in the window, I think that it was a pre-sale. Strange, I will ask the parts department next time I am over there.

My mom has had 2 Acuras. Neither one was impressive in any way.

Well, just remember.. it's a Honda, just a slightly better Honda. Invented for the US market.

Honda has, of course, Acura.
Nissan also joined in, with Infiniti.
And then, of course.. Toyota decided to have Luxury exported to the United States or Lexus, which does sound catchy.

In the case of a Lexus, there are more quality checks done versus the corresponding Toyota model, I've always thought Legends looked sharp, that is just me. The plant of assembly may have something to do with the quality of the finished product. Some would perhaps say it does not, akin to a the base oil does not make or break the quality of the finished oil discussion, like for certifications, the oil can be made a number of different ways.. I would think that, for the cars, it would perhaps matter more. Maybe better systems today, but that is speculation.

I look at older Integras as I used to want a 1992 or 1993 Integra GS-R as a young adult that wanted to be cool, but.. looking at them now, the RSXs, and EricTheCarGuy videos with heavy Honda content, I'm not sure I'm at all interested anymore. Plus they have gone the BMW "ugly" route in modern styling.

I'll pass.

schwinner, you are correct. The best Acura models were built in the early 1990's, both the Legend and the Integra. Then for 1996 Acura scrapped the Legend for the more Americanized RL model. I owned a 1990 Legend and a 1998 RL, each purchased new and owned for 10 years. To this day, the Legend sedan is the best all around vehicle I've ever owned. Today's Acura, not so much.

Lexus actually is not an acronym for anything, there are theories but the execs in Japan confirmed that it doesn't mean anything back when the first LS hit shores.

The Legend is an Acura, not a Lexus. I do agree that the plant has something to do with it...the RX that I owned was Japan built which was a plus when I purchased as opposed to a Canadian VIN. There were documented differences in assembly quality comparing the same RX made in Japan vs Canada.

You're right, it isn't "confirmed." At least that's what was explained to me during a light-hearted intermission at the Toyota assembly plant I worked at (training.) I didnt know (you are saying) that it was confirmed that it doesn't mean anything.. I just thought they always said that was not officially how that came about ;)

The Type F or LS400 you are right isnt an Acura, I was interjecting some Toyota with Lexus stuff for side by side comparison with Honda as Acura stuff which is why I did so after the comma, apologies on any confusion.

I had one as well from a Japanese plant of origin and the quality on it was as good as anything in the world. All the vehicles we were talking about are early 90s since Legend was retired in 1995, just in time for OBD2. Then came the Acura RL..

I test drove one a few weeks ago. It’s nice but not $6000 nicer then The Civic Sport Touring. Then you add $3000 mark up, and the $800 “protection package. So $41,000 before taxes for a 200hp Honda, no thanks.

The salesman keeps calling me and wants me to come in and buy one. Then Acura sent me an email saying they have a special 3.9% APR on the Integra. After the original reservations for it, I think people are balking at the price.

They really needed to drop the 2.0T in this car. That little engine at this price point it a tough pill to swallow.

Would be interesting to see what best and final they would give you…

Bingo. It doesn't need the ridiculous Civic Type R engine, but the Accord's 2.0, even if they detuned it to 220 hp or something, would be better and more class competitive with the GTI et al. As is, the Integra (and Civic Si for that matter) have the mid level Civic's engine with an extra psi or two of boost. Kinda lame.

My wife's 2016 RDX with almost 100,000 miles has been trouble free. Just normal maintenance: oil, filters, trans fluid drain and fill, wiper blades and one set of tires at 85,000 miles. Heck, I just pulled the front wheels to change the brake pads (I bought a set thinking they would need them at 96,000 miles) but they have plenty of pad left. It will be needing a timing belt kit and new plugs soon.

and it has a CVT. Even the ILX came with a DCT.

This is barftastic for sure but at least they offer it with a manual. Our options are dwindling...

I am directly in this car's target audience (I think, 45 year old professional, married w/kids already have a minivan...) but I'm a little underwhelmed. I'll give it a try when the time comes but it's hard to see how it's worth $5-8k over a Civic Si or the Sport Touring hatchback with the stick.
