The wife and I are both 70 yrs old. We've been married for 43. When we married, I owned a '73 Nova with a 3 speed manual tranny and a bench seat. I also owned a '79 C-10 with a 3 speed and bench seat. When we roadtripped or were just cruising, we'd hit McDonald's for some munchies. She'd slide over on the bench seat, put her arm around me and feed me french fries as we rolled down the road. We can't do that anymore with that dang console in the way. Cue the sad violin music.😭

Try a mid 70's Buick Electra it is like driving around with 2 leather sofas.
I had a 75 LeSabre that I would drive back and forth from D.C to Philly every week while stationed down there. By far the most comfortable car on the highway I ever owned and the seats were a large reason why.

Thanks for evoking great memories! My wife of 49 years and I enjoyed many high school dates in my parent's 66 Chevy Impala. The hoods on those era cars were looooong.

I had 3 buddies that carpool in a f150 with single bench seat. The practical joke in traffic is the guy on the far right would bend down so the only two visible were driver and middle guy.

I laugh every time I think about it.

Too funny! 😅
I could imagine the laughs, embarrassment, or both.
