I started researching oil about a month ago and found BITOG. Then I heard about the AZ clearance price on oil. I struck gold in 2 of my 3 stops so far. 10 quarts of Mobil 1 5w-20 HM and 7 quarts of Pennzoil Platinum 10w30 all for $3 per quart. I had never been to AZ before, thanks BITOG! What other clearance oils have you found recently and where? I found mine in Glendale and SLO in CA.

One AZ that I've visited has plenty of Pennzoil Ultra 10w30 for $3 a quart but I'm hesitant to buy it since my Cruze calls for 5w30.
Would you use this in a Cruze 1.4T that is coming out of warranty soon?
(I'm not worried that the PU isn't dexos1 but rather that it's 10w30).

Y'all are lucky! A few days back I went to 4 different AZ stores in my area and none of them had any Pennzoil Ultra or $1/quart NextGen left.

The Pennzoil Ultra 10W30 (and 5W30 even more so) are quite thin for 30 weights. I personally like to have slightly thicker oil than necessary as an extra factor of safety in case of engine overheating, so I wouldn't think twice about using it.

AZ never ever has a deal on oil they dont sell that much if their prices were lower people would buy more oil and other things also

AZ (AZO) stock price closed Friday on the NYSE at $475.50 a share. Seems like they must be doing something right!

I found one locally that had the Pennzoil conventional for $5 ... but they won't let you but it unless you buy a bunch of other marked up [censored].

Around me, neither AZ nor AAP ever has an oil clearance and their normal prices are ludicrous. Even their so-called "specials" are more expensive than Wally's everyday prices.

I stopped at another AZ who had Mobil 1 High Mileage 5w20 and Castrol Edge Titanium (gold bottle) 5w20 for $3 a quart. I passed on the SL rated M1 but picked up 5qts. of the Castrol.

pbm - If you don't mind disclosing, which AZs are you seeing this at? I'm pretty sure I'm in the same general area as you but haven't had any luck finding clearance quarts.

It's SL rated because of the more robust additive package. It doesn't mean it's old stock. It could have been made recently. Just an FYI.

I work in the city so I've checked many of the stores...It's a hit or miss thing with adjacent stores having no 'clearance' oils and the next one having them.

Same here.
