This is my first car out of college; 2002 Accord V6 EX top of the line with all option minus the navigation. I can't really keep the paint looking as good as it should because I don't have garage and go to places a lot so there are scratches here and there and a few scrubs on the bumper. However, I take good care of the inside and the all mechanical components. This car runs very good. I bought it with 0 mile on the clock and still on the transport truck. I am a loyal fan of Honda and if I ever get a new car, it will be a Honda. It would be cool to be able to buy a new Honda without the dealership experience as I hate dealerships.

Change all your fluids... and you will drive it almost forever... Use high quality fluids too! Also read your owners manual and follow it to a "T"

4 cylinder is good on Gas.. Honda knows their stuff. It will also be easier to fix because there will be lots of room around the engine seeing as that car also comes with a bigger V6 option. If you follow my advice above you will achieve at least 200,000 Miles if not more. Honda's are awesome!

I like Hyundai. The new Sonata is very sexy, and it comes with a better warrant and a better price. It is all Mitsubishi engineering (Basically), and has one best in class initial quality awards over Honda/Toyota. I have a Santa Fe Sport Utility right now with 130,000KM on it and it runs like it did new!

'00 Accord EX V6 was also my first car after getting out of school. But I can't say I loved it.

Glad you're enjoying yours though.

Great cars, except for the transmission. On the V6, the transmission is almost guaranteed to fail well before 150k. The 4-cyl ones are a [censored] though, some of them last for a very long time while others do not.

the manual transmissions on these cars, if fluids are changed regularly, are basically indestrucible.

I absolutely love the new Civic Si!!

I've had Civics before and they are really delightful cars to drive (because they're light), dependable, fuel efficient and quite durable.

When my Bimmer finally gives up the ghost, if Honda is making a hatchback Civic at the time, I'll buy one.

I don't know if this is true anymore but for the longest time the only way to get to the presidents office at Honda was through either Formula 1 or R&D (ie. one had to be an engineer). IIRC it was one of Sochio Honda's directives before he blew away.

He wanted car people calling the shots to ensure that Honda motors remained an engineering driven company. I haven't checked out the current president, but he seems to be calling the shots pretty well....(sound of GM melting down in the background).

Cheers all!

While I haven't had a drive train problem with my 04 EX V6,(107,000 miles) It surely isn't the quitest ride in town. On some roads it is down right loud inside. That is my biggest complaint.

I wonder what happens when you force them into 1st gear at 45MPH..

I think when Honda went to struts on the front it took them a while to figure them out in terms of NVH. The comprimise of going to struts kind of took the shine off Honda for me, but they are still great cars. Just now with more average handling.
If they weren't so high priced in the used market I would probably get one as a next car.

My wife has an 06 Accord EX with the 4 cyl engine, its a nice car but I wish that it had a taller 5th gear for highway driving.

The market is flooded with nice used Hondas that are realistically priced if you are willing to sit down and haggle.

I talked my parents into buying an 04 EX V-6. My parents had been in GM's and Chryslers all their life. Now you can't convince them to buy anything other than a Honda. It's the first car they've ever owned that's never been in for major repairs.

Uh, my parents last Pontiacs did. IIRC, my mother's last Bonneville went thru 2 of it's 3 fuel pumps before the 4th year. Better still, the dealer seemed completely incapable of finding the problem. I can't say that's a GM thing alone, though. My brother's 88 Sentra had practically every major electrical componenet replaced along with having the gas tank dropped and cleaned for a flat battery by the Nissan dealer.

You didn't own a new MB, BMW, Jaguar ... the last 10 years ?
